Bluesnews reports the game is gold and will ship Sept 30th. I dunno what day we'll get it in the UK but maybe it'll be a simultaneous release.

I care about it on PC cos I'm useless with an X-box controller, its far too big! Managed to get down to the halo on easy mode, then I die every two minutes and constantly drive vehicles of bridges, etc......hopeless.

Halo was always meant to be a pc title. I played the xbox version but always felt uncomfortable with the controller for FPS. The game really deserves to be played as it was intended. My only concern is that the balancing of the single player game was aimed at the console and not the pin point accuracy you get with most keyboard/mouse users, though reviews of early code suggest that the games still challenging on legendary setting.
I believe the graphics have been improved somewhat and there are more multiplayer maps/acouple of new weapoins and modes of play. I too tried the gamespy tunnel software to play online. But the people you found there were relatively new to online play ands it was really frustrating setting up a single match. I have high hopes for some big games with people who know wtf they are doing.

My only concern is what to buy. HL2 on the 24th or Halo on the 30th?

That's a tricky one innit?;)

I say - buy HL2 and download Halo.

What Ono clearly means is buy the game online and download it rather than them sending you a physical disc. Its the future

I'll buy HL2 - if it makes the 30th September release date, which is looking less and less hopeful as the game persists in not having gone gold...

As I haven't played it to any great extent on the Xbox, I'll probably get Halo when I'm bored of HL2 - never know, it may have dropped down to £20 by then... :)

Was Halo (originally) supposed to be verging almost on open ended massively multiplayer when they released the original designs? I heard that they were going to go back to the original concept for the PC version rather than the FPS by numbers style on the XBox?

Or am I just dreaming?

Hmm I dont know about any mmo Halo :) but I do know I saw a video for it on PC about 4 years ago, no idea why it ended up becoming X-box exclusive.

The answer to that questions is fairly simple: Microsoft owns Bungie and wanted something to show off X-Box with.

Good news: you're not just dreaming.

Bad news: I think Bungie scrapped the idea fairly promptly, because it would just be too complicated. And because "FPS by numbers" turned out to be very popular.

Please let's not get onto the subject of the HL2 release date. No-one knows when it will be, and no-one is likely to know until the game goes gold (which, for a 30th September release date, should be by the end of this week *prays* )

This first ingame footage of Halo was shown at a mac expo, running on a mac. Cos bungie used to release everything they did on mac first and I imagine apple are wishing they had brought up bungie before ms did.

What Ono clearly meant was download the game and don't pay any money to M$ for being fucktards and releasing it on the XBrick first.

There is a mac version coming out too but they had to wait until the pc code was written before they could complete it. Halo was way back intended to be a mac game then a pc game then it was XBOXed out of existence for a while. Now everythings in reverse.

Must admit that after playing it again and again on the xbox I'm not gonna buy it for the PC. I'll just get Halflife 2 and move on.

But GOD DAMN, I cant wait for Halo2 :)
