This always happens to me. If a steaming drunk, semi-psychotic sword weilding maniac was to get on my bus in the morning i'm the one that they would make a bee-line for.

Last night was the first time I've logged into Pryd. I make my chars, spend some time getting them set up and working out how to play a reaver and a necro at the same time (trickier than I thought ;) ).

So, off I go to level and after a couple of hours i'm level 5 on both toons and heading back to train.

I'm stood at the weapon merchant when this guy (name withheld) rushes up to me and the convo goes like this ('bout as accurate as i can remember):

Him - "can I join you?"

Me - *he cons grey* "sorry, i'm just finding my feet at the moment and I may be more hinderance than help"

Him - *starts jumping around me and spamming his heal spells* "I'm a GREAT healer, I can heal you all so let me in"

Me - "Really sorry, i'm just taking a look at my quests and stuff so there's not much point forming up"

Him - "I cant play!! you can't get to level 5 as me. Your a necro"

Me - "I am indeed, thats why I picked one..so I could solo easily"

Him - "I have to get to level 5 tonight and soon I have to go"

Me - "Theres always tomorrow, be patient young sir"

Him - "I'm going away tomorrow"

Me - "Then theres always when you return :) "

Him - "No, i'm not coming back"

Me - "err ok. Not much point getting to 5 then I suppose"

Him - "I'm going to die tomorrow and so you must get me to level 5"

Me - *thinking this is getting a little too weird* "I'm sorry to hear that, anyway I must be going"

Him - "I want to be a Friar!! help me kill things"

Me - *silence*

5 minutes passes without any tells

Him - "Ding!! Can I die happy now?"

Me - *switches on anon and hides behind some trees*

He logs out.

Now i've played a mana chanter to 50 and I know whats it's like being asked for PL's but never, EVER would I have expected to have someone use the excuse that they are going to die tomorrow so i must help them get to 5 !! Lets just hope that he really was kidding !!

All I can say is thank god I've spoken to a few people on these boards 'cause I was tempted to delete my toons and run screaming for the hills ;)

Lol

Though I can sympathise with the guy. I started a Friar on Alb/Excal last night and it was pretty painful to get to level 5. I think it took about 2:40 (in contrast I levelled a dark runie to 5 in 52 minutes) what with running around trying to find quests, merchants, etc (I'm new to Alb SI). Not only that, but the guards in Alb seemed to have a vicious streak - sending me off for kill tasks that seemed miles away. I don't know how many times I ran up and down that slope outside Caer Whatsitsface in SI.

I don't think I quite got to the stage of begging for PLing, but it was quite sad.

Oh hell yeah I know it can be a pain...but it would take longer with 3 in a group trying to kill yellow/orange stuff than for him just to solo some blues...he hadn't made it past level 1 at this point

Still, I had to chuckle 'cause it happens so often.

Haha :p I've had to do that before too :/ Problem is the lowbie-looneys can still /tell you and find out you're still online :( What's needed is a /UltraAnon command so that even /tells don't get though :p

Nah, i'm not into this naming and shaming thing....he'll do enough of that on his own without my help ;)

I won't swear at people, just not my style. If they really annoy me I just go into ignore mode and most people get the hint after awhile.
