I rolled elsewhere.

I am assuming a 'server hop' feature will be introduced at a later date as Far Shiverpeak has been full since before primetime.

You can buy a world transfer at any time apparently.

They're free for the timebeing until they add the guesting system, I'm guessing a week or so..

But, no doubt it will be bugged and wont allow you to transfer until they implement the fee :p

Oh it was register.guildwars2.com got confused as I thought that was the place you put your pre order key.
Indeed. If anyone else is confused in this situation you use https://register.guildwars2.com/ and say 'Yes' to "Do you already have a Guild Wars account?". That isn't just for linking a GW1 and GW2 account. Put in the same info as you already have (email and password) and you should be all set. I believe the digits after your account name may change when doing this, but you do obviously keep all characters and progress.

I am on Gunnars Hold, we were losing quite badly against Jade Sea [FR] and some other one starting with Aurora or something or other :p
As Talivar said the INT people are taking it somewhat easy for now.

Jade Sea[FR] seems to be uber-organised already, including having late-night players to go around taking the whole map overnight. Given the advantage they gain from this Gunnar's Hold is doing quite well to take some back during the daytime.

Merely Mortal are with INT (and our little daoc initiative) on Gunnar's Hold too, and we're all a bunch of old Prydwen veterans from the likes of Ascending Dawn, Eclipse, Servants of the Lake and The Last Watch to name a few old guilds. It's great to be part of a decent sized DAoC community on a game again, after all the setup of Karak Eight Peaks back in the day which fell flat on its face within a month, I think the effort this time around to do the same is going to pay off. Can't wait to start doing some organised RvR again. :D

That's it, if I play, I'm not sure who I want to play with etc, because I'm pretty much sure I'll join a great guild initially, then within 3 months, it'll completely die out, and I'll join some other guild which won't be as good, and generally ruin my GW experience, that's the main reason I'm reluctant in investing my time into this.

In general, what are people's thoughts about this? - Over-hyped, or just right?

So far it's brilliant but if you want a more accurate verdict ask us in a month :)

ArenaNet said:
Ensuring the best possible play experience for our fans is our highest priority. We’ve said before that we would be willing to temporarily disable first-party digital sales if we felt our high player concurrency may compromise player experiences. We have now reached that point.

Effective immediately we have disabled sales via buy.guildwars2.com. To be clear, box and digital sales are still available via our retail partners. We are tracking our concurrency closely while expanding our infrastructure. We’ll re-enable first-party digital sales as soon as we feel that we can do so safely. ~RB2

Far Shiverpeaks is way way way over capacity good luck trying to do anything that involves a queue, WvW? you'll be queuing for hours they should really lock that server down completely.

nothing to worry about at the mo - the overflow server(s) - great idea. every time i've logged on i've been able to play no problem - in the overflow for half the time, but compared to sitting in a queue doing sod all, it's a good thing :)

This is the news.

Guild Wars 2 email authentication, status updates, sales halt [Updated]
by Eliot Lefebvre on Aug 30th 2012 6:00PMFantasy, Culture, News items, Guild Wars 20

Guild Wars 2 players have gotten absolutely slammed with phishing attempts following the game's launch. ArenaNet has accordingly beefed up security for the game, starting with the new email authentication system that's being rolled out today. The system is lightweight and works without players needing an extra code to enter at the login screen, instead relying upon the security of your designated email account. And all players need to do to activate the system is verify their email addresses (which can be done right on the login screen).

Once the email is verified, every time the associated account tries to log in, the account holder will be sent an email requesting permission. Account holders can deny the logon, allow it for a single instance, or remember the location in question and always log on from there. It's not ironclad, but it should help players affected by these phishing attempts ensure that they'll be safe.

[Thanks to Ring Bonefield for the tip!]

[Update: ArenaNet has once again taken to Reddit to post updates as to the status of outstanding bugs and issues and bans in the game. The studio has also temporarily halted sales of the game through the ArenaNet website.]

Most old pryd/excal DAoC guilds that I've seen are on GH I think yeah, with a few on Far Shiverpeaks too. I believe FS is much busier and generally oversubscribed though, so I think GH is a better shout personally.

Had a Guild event yesterday with no problems at all, there have been
days where the queue have been bugged and not working. The longest I've stayed in queue on FSp is about 7 minutes which is doable imo.

I respect you as a person Aada, but do not spread false information because you yourself had a bad experience and then changed the server right away. The game was(and is) bugged where mechanics does not work as intended, this is something we will just live with for now.

On Far Shiverpeaks we also got multiple alliances, where we divide the days/time inbetween ourself. This way we will always have time to do our raids, and at the same time able to fill up the frontiers 24/7!

We are also quite a few of old excal/prydwen people that plays with us, about half of my members are from FH/DAoC! :)

The fun part will be matching up against Gunnars Hold, but right now it only seens to be Whiteside Ridge and Ruins of Surmia(For a week...) which is quite annoying.

So that was you I battered around with my hammer. Aurora Glade would be the server ;) - Sick of not being able to find a guild, albeit I'm only L9.
