WvW queues are absolutely ridiculous you can be waiting literally HOURS, 3 hours i was waiting to get some WvW action before i finally gave up.

from the article you posted it suggested that it actually does make sense! (i finished reading at home )

little creatures with huge intelligence + curiosity finds guns and boom pack? why not?

Anyone playing an engineer? They're good in pvp with the shield, pistol and combustion but feel so weak in pve

Anyone got a decent pve spec?

They are a bit weedy in PvE when yo use a pistol. Pickup a rifle and you shoudl be ok. I'm 35 and currently running 10/10 explosives/firearms 5 in whatever the one that gives you +healing is and the rest in toolbelt cooldowns.


I run with a healing turret, rocket turret, elixr U (i think..the purple one) and a flame thrower.

I use the F keys all the time for extra dmg and regen, dropping the health turret when i'm low then immediately picking it back up again. Rocket turret i drop when i think i'll be in range for a minute or so.

Flame thrower for packs 2+ in size. Rifle for single or 2 mobs, get them in line etc.

I web them first then let the mobs get close to me before dodging back to drop a mine and then again, then knock back, then reweb if necessary.

Names are borked. Check you dont have a GW1 account with tho names in it.

Also if you used those names during the BWEs or stress tests, they appear to be locked out.


For example i didn't use just "Poag" during any bwe or stress test and i can use it.

but i did use "Poag Poagington" which i cannot use.

I'm using the same names as I used in the beta and stress tests...
Names are unique across servers though

Character names in the Guild Wars universe work differently than they do in most other MMOs. Whereas in most MMOs character names are unique only within their world/server, in Guild Wars and Guild Wars 2, character names are unique across the entire game. In Guild Wars 2, when a player acquires a name like Wizardex, he or she is acquiring it across all worlds. Clearly this places more importance on grabbing the name early.

I'm 99% sure this is not the reason some names are unaccessable.

There is ample assets on show for some of the armours. Theres a Norn NPC who maybe chilly at times.

I personally play an asura so its all about the intellect for me!


Theres alot of back story once you hit the main questline about ~30. The pre 30 is the setup, you pick your path then refine it, the giant menacing evil is introduced, refined and then your sent out to battle it.

Well hmm, story and skimpy clothes, no monthly sub and GW1 was fun. Can't seem to find a reason not to waste a whiskybottles worth of cash on it

Only in low 20s here. I've spent a lot of time poking my nose into the various corners of the world I've explored so far. I'm trying to stay out of PvP because I know when I go in, I might not be back to PvE much. Some of the jump puzzles are hilarious and nasty. The Charr one underground which you access via a lake is just evil with all the traps and suchlike. Fun

That said, the launch itself was appalling and until this morning the while guild interface was very broken indeed. Quite ironic really in a game with 'Guild Wars' in the title that one of the most bug ridden things in it at launch were guilds.

35 myself. We are a mini group of 3. A Warrior a Guardian and me an Engineer. Done the first 3 north zones, the first 2 human zones and the first 2 asura zones to 100% completion.

We did the first dungeon last night and it was a bit "meh" with instagibbing and silly amounts of health on trash.

None atm. A friend has the same issue and has an open support ticket. Once his gets resolved i'll be looking into the solution myself.

Check the name is "Reserved" or "In use" reserved = gw1 account while in use = some other problem

Try again today. According to the FAQ the reserved names list they generated from GW1 will be removed after the headstart weekend so if that's the problem you might be able to get it now.

I'm loving the game so far, I've become obsessed with completing each area I go in to. Need to start grouping up with you guys though!

Good point, though i'm certain there's some crossover what with two days a week raiding being the main "playtime" for many in wow.

Maybe, but you'd expect the general WoW playtime to go down when GW2 went up. Which didn't happen.

People were still playing WoW the same amount as the weekend before -1.6%.

I meant that wow players were playing something else between raids(minecraft, consoles, whatnot) and now GW2 fills that gaming time with MMO goodness.

The wow playing time in raid tier will stay constant really as there's no change to the game, raiders will raid and that's about it for their time.

MultiMMO players are a bigger chunk of the demographic then the fanbase might let to believe

I'm not sure which server. I think most people here went to far shiverpeaks, but that it might be full? Are you able to switch servers (not "guesting") by deleting all characters and re-choosing? I don't know.

I am going Gunnars Hold as quite a lot of ex -DAoC Prydwen peeps heading there from what ive heard from bro, Valour, Savage Conclave, Svea Ulvar and Ancient Shadows (WoW/RIFT/EVE/Whatevz DAoC peeps)

and so are my classmates at uni
