Ive just finished my 1st on-line race. 12laps of Monza in a 550

Qualified 8th, got upto 2nd, dropped to 5th :( I get too excited on the last lap and end up spinning :(

So an IP race would be very much possible... Cool :p

What kind of connection to host say 5-6 people is needed?

Ive no idea tbh, Ive just raced on a 24man server which was very smooth (got punted out on the 1st lap though, very frustrating I'll tell you)

There's a bit of ghosting, or judder, but other than that its great :)

Well at last the full game has turned up, will install tonight.

I'll come along and form a mobile chicane on any track you like :)

OK, dunno if anyone else'll find this useful, but I have just had a quick read, and although it was written with Grand Prix Legends in mind, I think that quite a few of the tips could well be put to use in GTR.

Full version of Nurburgring anyone? (maybe a Glen)

2 files to install.
Extract the first one into gtr/gamedata/locations/
then extract the second into the folder the 1st creates (themother)

Its a truely awsome track.

1st file
2nd file

Also, Ive found that the RaceSimCentral forums are full of excellent info about set-ups and downloads etc.

Yup done lots of laps, lots of fun, more like a country lane drive than a race track, but as you get to know bits of it the times start to tumble, then you get caught out and have a big big off.

Thanks for that Wil, I've installed and had a go. I really wanted to beat 10 mins, cos that's what Clarkson did in his Jaguar, but my first attempt (in the Elise) was 10:42 in semi-pro.

Still like Gumbo says the times will fall. I did spend some of that time sliding along on my door :)

I just got a 1.31.052 in the Saleen too. Im not gonna lie and say that it was easy :p but I do reckon I could knock a a second or two off with slightly better braking skills :)

I did make a vid but but I cant be arsed to upload it just yet. I believe it is a TINY bit faster than yours just due to the numbers in the replay you did.

whoop!

Went to see the FIA GT race at Silverstone yesterday! :D

It was absolutely amazing, the cars were quite possibly the loudest things I've *ever* heard. Ludicrously fast and effing sexy. Also, it was the first run out for the Aston Martin team with their two DB9's and they won :D

The thing I found wierd was that the GT race was an endurance thing 10am-1pm and appeared to be a sideline attraction, not many people were interested. After it was done, there was a touring car race - alfa romeo's, seat's, ford focus' all dead boring cars. This was the main event - 15 laps of them going round at about half the speed of the GT cars and everyone was gripped?

Honestly, sometimes I don't understand people.

I watched some of the Enduro race on Tele and yeah, it was great to see (and hear) the cars.

Made me nip and find a Silverstone circuit to razz around on, but I actually just razzed off to bed instead :(

Is it literally that easy to install? No extra software needed? Yes me = n00b as it's been so long since I've even thought about playing a game on lé pootay :p

Hi guys

Forgive me if someone has posted about this, but I'm a little pressed and can't afford to read the ~14 pages of this thread :) Basically, there is a free GTR add-on entitled King of Ovals for anyone with the full game. It adds three new - you guessed it - oval tracks and weighs in at around 26.6MB.

Kind Regards

Thanks Jonty,

This add-on is causing quite lot of arguments over on the GTR forum at race sim central.

The problem is that, firstly, GTR cars never race on ovals, and secondly the tracks are not licensed recreations of real tracks but fictitious. Therefore the realists and super realists over there are slagging them off at every opportunity.

Also, probably a bigger problem is that the cars are not designed for ovals, and some of them bottom out the whole time, even with ride heights and springs at max and wings at min.

The bottom line though is; it's free and there is actually plenty of fun to be had, apparently.

Not that I would know, I have d/l it, but my g/f knocked my wheel off my desk on Thursday and now it doesn't work :(

No more GTR till at least Monday when the replacement arrives.
