What do you guys think, i reckon its between Bob Dylan and Bob Marley, with Marley just edging it.

shame that Basshunter was a bit late, or he would have won it

This is kinda interesting.

Are we talking message of songs? The lyrics? The whole song?

Ah ok.

Then i would have to put robbie williams there too, along with many many more from the "old days".

I couldn't choose between the artists really, just so many stories and each of them effects different people in different ways in different times.

I'd say all songs that have a story or a message are good if they in some way help someone deal with whatever their going through.

Do you mean just lyrically or as a band? If as a band then surely it's jsut gonna be asking people who their favourite artist is :D

For me it'd probably be aerosmith for either catagory though...

Robbie Williams doesnt write his own songs. His best mate does.

I have no idea who mine would be though.

Well yeah, a lot of songs arn't by him, but some are.

Can't remember which album he wrote by himself...could've been the one where angel is but...not sure.

I always thought Jeff Buckley was a good song writer. Probably not the best though.

Robbie Williams? all of his good songs have been done by someone else :)

I will go for Richard Ashcroft He has inspired so many people with his music.

Nick Drake
or
Leonard Cohen.

If you can listen to Drake's Five Leaves Left and not feel there's still a little magic in the world there's no hope for you.

Cohen's first album is full of some of the most wonderful imagery ever commited to vinyl.

nobody ever gets Tohtoris sarcasm, and so many fall for it !!

Is Richard Ascroft someone elses idea of sarcasm ? Theirs like......1000s of artists with more talent in their bitten fingernails than mr ash will ever have.

My vote is for Roger Waters.
