I brought race into it, because as i've said, i've had white, christian neighbours, who we've rarely spoken to, who did it, without asking.

Asians didn't, in general, as I said, is it a ownership of land status thing.

Seems that someone seems to be knowing where I'm coming from, I merely added the cultural thing to see if there's any repetition..

The reason I started this, is because I honestly believed it was a mutual 'community' spirit sorta thing where people didn't have to do it because they were mates with them, it was just so that the street look nice and tidy.

I am getting the race card out - what on earth does being Asian have to do with them choosing to cut or not cut a lawn? I am guessing these people aren't the worlds most devout budhists, scared of killing an ant with a lawnmower? That being the case - why mention it?

I love gardening - I find it very relaxing, but equally I am aware that it is not everyones bag and for a lot of people it can be a real hassle - that is life. Ask them if you can mow it once a fortnight if it bothers you that much - the worst they can say is no.
