hhmm? does it follow on from gta2, or go back to the original?

im the only person i know who completed the original without using any cheats. ok, from getting the game to seeing that final fmv took around 9 months, but i did it! hell, there were 3 months between the end of level 5 and the end of level6! when i fianlly finished that lkast level(6), it took me an entire afternoon :D

despite my amazing gta skills, i completely hated gta2, giving up when i reached the 3rd city.

I have it and its a great improvement from 2.

Theres a story line in there somewhere (the game starts after a hijacking of your prison bus)

theres a great number of things u can do, u can even pickup whores who give u blowjobs lol :)

u can steal a taxi and activate a crazy taxi mode too :D

Quite hard to aim the guns tho but im still getting used to the controls :/

Great police chases too with even a helicopter following your every move.

great stuff

poor Dan someone tell him what a blowjob's like (and me too while you're at it)

I remember having the original GTA, getting pissed off with the impossible missions towards the end and swapped it for final fantasy 7, I have and never will regret it.

yes, gta was impossably hard, which is why im so proud of my acheivment in completing it without any cheats or exploits :)
i knew the first map off by heart, i was pretty familiar with the second one, and the last map wasn't designed that logically so it were hard to remmeber, so i used the map alot for that one.

one of the best games i ever bought.

I loved GTA1, 2 kinda lost the feel of the original because it was (supposedly) set in the future. Them Zibaitsu cars tho...oooh bebeh :)

Naaah...

In GTA 1 you could throw your car about, take corners at unnatural speeds and accelerate faster than a real car ever could. In GTA 2 they clearly tried to make it a little more realistic. You couldn't speed off as fast, you couldn't take 90° corners at top whack anymore... basically they took the silly fun out of it.

Played GTA for months and had several hilarious LAN games with me mates. Played GTA 2 for a few days then ditched it.

Is GTA 3 coming out for the PC?

/me searches Google

edit: Gah! Seems they've gone for a Carmageddon-style 3D view. Okaaaay... Still might be good, just different.

so true :D
i remmber it wasn't teh lack of speed, it was just the unresponsive acceleration in them.

they also tried to fit in gear changes(drops in the acceleration) if i remmeber rightly. tbh i also liked the old style speeding. i had gta1 on the ps, and the sound track was win.

some of those tunes were great! when you could navigate as well as i could, you'd be able t devote most of your concentration to beeping the horn in time to the radio :D

it's 'men folk found...' not 'men' as far as i remmeber, and it seems to fit better :)

was the 'taxi drivers must die' from the original, or was that from gta2?

Looks like GTA3 will be released on the PC around March/April 2002. So they say.

They'll have to work hard to beat the likes of Colin McRae Rally 2 and Midtown Madness, imo.

It looks just like Carmageddon 2 and that was released three years ago. Doesn't have the polish of modern driving games. A flop on the PC, I reckon.

The radio on gta3 is just as good too...u can tune in to different stations, theres one station which is a talkshow...quite funny to listen to it :)

You cant really compared this to colin mcrae, its not really a racing game, its a modern day rpg of sorts

I know this and Colin McRae 2 are completely different games, but at the end of the day you drive a car in it.

It'll take a lot of 'fun' factor to make it better than even, Midtown Madness 2. Although, GTA3 has the added 'uniqueness' of being able to get out of your car (in 3rd person view) and kick the crap out of people.

Actually, this one fact means that I'll probably buy a copy.

in my mind, making it 3d will ruin the fun.

wha made theoriginal so fun was the shite graphics, the way you could run around whacking people, the way you could go on a killing spree, then just go to a paint shop and be free again...
it wasn't realistic, and thats the way i liked it.

making stuff 3d means you have to add realism...and gta just wont work with realism :/

If the pc version has decent multiplay options, itll be a shit load of fun, something like cops and robbers or even coop in singleplayer...but I doubt these will happen :(

U can still have the overtop view btw :)

gah, i should edit my post for tis but i cant be arsed.

did you know 'gouranga' is totally true? in nottingham its written above several bridges, and a year or so ago my sister explained about this dodgy 'monks'.
you give them money(most likely about a quid in the street), and they then say 'gouranga' and its meant to give you good luck or summit :/

ive seen them once, (on 'clumba street' in town if anyone ehre lives in notts), and they were annoying, and looked like a bunch of students after free money. :D

i was allright cus i had no change on me, he still pestered me...

My views on this game has changed since I first posted in this thread. ;)

Judging from screenshots (not comprehensive I know) it would appear that the game engine doesn't render landscapes and vehicles quite as well as other games of it's type.

That said, no other game of it's type is as diverse. This seems to be a mix of 3rd-person shooter and 3rd-person crazeh driving. That in itself will probably be enough to make it a good, fun game. If you can get over the (possibly) dodgy graphics.

Hope they bring out a demo.

Heh. Those 'dodgy monks' are Hare Krishna's. Gouranga is a derivative of Sri Gourang and forms part of a chant. Don't know no more.

(Tsk. 'Dodgy monks.' In this day and age... ;))

Yeah. Used to love Carmegeddon 2 for just that reason. Download some smart new 1950s-1970s US muscle cars then smash the shit out of them in am00sing ways.

Shame it doesn't work under yer modern OS. :(

/me thinks about XP compatibility mode...

So only Bee has it and he likes it yeah?

I was never a fan of the GTA games and from the screenies I have seen I conclude the following:

  • I will NOT get a PS2 just because of this game;

I may get it on the PC, but am not too fussed.
