Muslim?

You think this is a phenomenom unique to islam, rather than common to all religions?

If I'm wrong and you mean fundamentalist - then you're also incorrect. Fundamentalism is something every church would dearly love to stoke in each and every one of their believers. Islam just has a massive amount of them because, in their countries, islam is still relevant.

Christianity still holds a fair few, especially in bible-belt America, but a lot less because of its increasing irrelevancy to its own practicioners.

There are several nutjob Christians that have been refused entry to the UK. Generally though they don't even know the UK exists because we are not in America.

Haven't seen many Hare Krishna with bombvests, or suicide Buddhists. Could be ofcourse that there are, but haven't heard of any :p

Then you're simply showing your lack of education.

Sri Lanka is 70% Buddhist and has been ravaged by savage war against the tamil (hindu) minority. The tamil minority have suffered GENOCIDE at the hands of buddhists. The political capital that allowed them to do this was after the US/UK reclassified the tamil tigers a "terrorist" organisation rather than previously classification as "freedom fighters" because we didn't want to look hypocritical after 9/11 when we started our "war on terror".

Sri Lankan buddhists call for violence against both christians and tamils. Athuraliye Rathana is a Sri Lankan buddhist monk - serving in the Sri Lankan government - who's been pulling an israeli jewboy - building buddhist temples in hindu and muslim areas in Sri Lanka like settlements in palestine. He's called for the tamils to be exterminated by "any" means and said, and I quote, "if the law can't do it then other means must be used".

He also called for the murder of journalists who paint the war in an unfavourable-to-the-buddhist-majority light.

"Buddhist calls for murder shocker" - or non-shocker, if you know anything about how religion works.

You want more recent violence committed by them? A cursory search gives....

300 people belonging to the Buddhist majority stopped a bus carrying Muslims from a religious gathering, dragged 10 of them out and beat them to death .... Rakhine, along the Bangladesh border, is an area known for incidences of sectarian violence between the Buddhist residents and the Muslim minority

Buddhism has good PR which relies on image and the fact that westerners are woefully ignorant of the atrocities that go on further afield than the middle east.

How about Kamikaze? You know - flying planes in a suicide-bomber attack? A shinto belief, primarily. But you'll not find shinto practicioners who aren't buddhists...

There is NO SUCH THING as a peaceful religion.

I meant mentalist

That's simply caused by their religion.

How else do you think a belief in something that's totally made up, has no basis in fact, is well-explained to be demonstrably wrong, is supersticious, fear-inducing and requires its members to not believe in evidence and to abrograte their responsibilities to the whims of its corrupt leaders would work out?

It's not lack of education, it's just "haven't heard of any". Most of us don't spend half our time looking for religious violence on google :p

But, there is also no such thing as peaceful people(as much as there's no peaceful religion), many million have died "for the people" also. There's always a reason for people to kill people, religion or no religion.

That's simply caused by their religion.

No, it's because they're mentally off. Otherwise all religious folk would be killing folk left and right. Like was discussed before; he atheist shooting folk wasn't because he was atheist, but he was atheist who was also a loonie.

Part of something does not make it a reason for it.

No need for google. I take the time to challenge my intellect and keep up with what's going on around the world rather than sitting in ingorance with my blinkered belief system - and I happened to visit Sri Lanka last year. :p

Ah, you're rolling out this old chestnut (again).

No. Fundamentalist believers can be instructed to kill the infidels.

Try to instruct a "group" of atheists. Oh, what's that??? There is no word for a "group" of atheists? So, you're saying there's no mechanism of control......????

Weird eh?

Whilst i'm aware that the word fundamentalist applies specifically to religious nutjobs, there are people in all walks of life who take things too seriously and come across as completely mental to the 'normal-thinking' majority. I'd agree that the religion plays a large part in their thinking, but some people are just completely off their nut anyway.

Which could be also by some degree be said about Couscous and his anti-religion stance. Which ironically is influenced by religion, or there hate of ;)

Damn auto-correct keeps wanting to put Scouse as couscous :D

then again it's claiming tohtori is tori o_O (that's a political thing around your parts right?)

It was a joke post towards your non-relevant post avoiding what i said completely.

With 1.6 billion followers, the Idea that the Islamic world is in uproar is ridiculous, there are organised groups and hotheads, a few terrorist chancers and a lot of press talk. most Muslims have got used to this shit like we have, I mean LOL Iran has reissued the fatwah on Rushdie, who should be killed anyway for obviously drugging beautiful young women to sleep with his ugly ass.

True.

But religion forms groups of these people. Groups that can be commanded - in military ways if need be.

Idea!: Lets have a sing-song eh? G'wan, belt a couple of choruses out - I'll give you the lyrics!:

Onward Christian Soldiers, Anyone?
Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before.
Christ, the royal Master, leads against the foe;
forward into battle see his banners go!

Onward, Christian soldiers, marching as to war,
with the cross of Jesus going on before

How about a bit of "Trust and Obey"?
When we walk with the Lord in the light of His Word,
What a glory He sheds on our way!
While we do His good will, He abides with us still,
And with all who will trust and obey.

Trust and obey, for there’s no other way
To be happy in Jesus, but to trust and obey

No. I can't see any worrying groupthink activities coming out of that.

I worry about the atheists and their born-to-be-an-individual-way. Fear the atheist army!

Indeed, if the islamic followers were all out to get us, we'd be f*cked.

"You got something to say
Better off stay away
I have a loaded gun
Waiting to go off

You keep your eyes on yourself
You slit your throat with your guilt
My hands are ringing necks
In my waking thoughts

Destroy, destroy all"

-Wayne Static of Static X, Atheist.

Your interpretation of those songs as rallies to war is as loose as the extremist interpretations of "kill all western folk".

Don't be a dick toht.

You cannot equal the lyrics of a metal band with hymns sung, in worship to a god, by a members of a religion, in a building specifically built for that purpose, during weekly meetings, before and after prayer.

That's assinine.

I actually can since fanbases of singers are more devoted in many cases then those of religious affiliation.

Actually the fanbases of artists read -more- into lyrics then any regular churchgoer.

Really? And if your favourite band asked you to go out and murder people, what would you say?

It's not as if your band can tell you you're going to hell if you don't comply, or that you will suffer in some way.

Like I said - assinine.

No. I mean, if you don't like it, fuck off out of the thread and stop reading it if it hurts your fragile little mind :)

Fragile?

If by fragile you mean "can't stand unbelievably childish and irritating levels of bullshit from everyone involved" then you might be right.

As Deebs said in the other thread, if you and Toht want to go hand in hand in a retardation competition, do it in private. You're fucking tedious right now and half of us are fed up with the cretinous bullshit.

It is, not sure why it needs a thread saying it's shit so often. Maybe we should just have one religion and politics thread for Scouse to get all moany in so everyone can safely ignore his agenda-ridden rants? :D

That would be fine if it was one thread, but it's not. You and Toht are going at it in a couple of threads. It's fucking irritating. Shall I stop reading the whole boards because you love arguing with him so much?
