Yus, cause OF was only in the game after three years! I didn't notice any severe population decrease after the release of NF - surely some OF bomber groups stopped playing cause they couldn't bomb zergs anymore, but oh well.

On US there was a massive population drop, i mean 1/3 of most servers left.

I'd like oF back aswell with these changes:

Instead of 1 milagte, 2.
Instead of having the ladders on the home realms side, make it on the attacking side, since obviously they build it to protect the little area they have claimed. Also makes it imp for any force to camp down a milegate with the aim for zerg warfare.

Make the Emain, OG, HW, abit larger as in just copy-paste landscape, just to make it abit larger, also to avoid zergs, and make the rvr landscape more complex.

Thats it, give OF back and I will re-new acc.

God, another of the bi-monthly OF threads.

It ain't coming back, at least not as you'd like it to...and good riddance!

Still the nummbers shows/showed that 1/3 or more left the US servers when NF / ToA hit.

Lots of euro ppl left when NF / ToA hit.

The mayority did not like those changes.

Myself I do not like the secenary in NF at all, I got fed up and quit. For me it's a a real design flaw, you might not agree at all - but that ain't an argument for not implementing an OF zone or a whole new real classic server, is it?

Though ofc I realize that won't happen, but the demand remains.

The only thing I would change is removing the milegates and opening up the bottle knecks to avoid camping or make 2 routes out from the portal keeps like in agramon.

I only started actively playing right before the death of OF, so I'm not playing for that long. And I guess some people can play one game longer then others, having friends in the game is a huge factor to keep playing, I reckon.

Seen quiet a few ideas on how ppl would make minors changes to OF and ditch NF etc, but Mythic ain't gonna do shit about it since it's a loose-loose situation.

There are maybe 50% ppl who would like to play on an OF server instead of a NF one, thats fair enough, but now with doac beeing 4-5 years old and there have also been a natural decline in population over the years, splitting up more players, both in europe and us would be bad for all.
Since no server is healthy with a low pop, and alot of people do like NF, and a lot of ppl HATE it. So the result would be splitting ppl up... and making an english OF server would mean 1000ppl on each or less wich is equal to a dead server.

So I think mythic is very much aware of what they done to the game but at current there is no win-win siutaion for them, just a sustain-maintain situation. Sustaining the current situation in DAoC will cost far less money then making any radical changes that might in the end result in even more less populated servers. On US this might work since all the servers are english, and they could probably cluster even more servers to have a resonable high population after the OF server have drained some population from the current clusters. On EU this would be impossible since tbh, having french, germans, english, spanish and italian ppl on one server is insane, and clustering already existing servers to make 3-4 high populated "international" servers is just as bad.

If you want OF action the only way you gonna get it is on one of the various freeshards that exist, some are obviously utterly bullshit and retarded, some are very nice and host zergs, competative 8v8, keep takes, solo fights, stealthwars all the things that old daoc offered.

The grp thing has nothing to do with OF vs NF. Its about more ppl knowing how the game works and how to "pwn" afterall its the ppl that makes the grps not the map design ingame. Agramon>>>>>old Emain still ppl only remember the good things about OF. i ran solo to emain say 20 times per night thats 200 fuooking mins wasted without any action what so ever. just to arive at amg or mmg to get powerowned by a stealth zerg i couldnt see due to lack of MoS

Agreed, anyone that played a stealther as main for more then 20 mins back then would know that too.

If you as a stealther went from DL to amg over n over n over n over n over again you got noone else then yourself to blame for bad action/getting zerged.

You could roam in bowl, roam near ramos ( tower in bref ), roam/camp mmg/mpk. You could go to OG and roam all over, or head to svasud and get like 100k in one day there killing expers, ppl heading out, soloers, enemy stealthers and not one single add in sight.
I could go on and on and on and on... fact is NF got piss poor design, its flawed all over with no idea behind it except ZEEERG etc.

I played stealthers in NF, ranger, ns and minstrel and only place I could go to and get so-so fights was Brynja ( and we all kow how that is... ), DC ( same thing there ) or doorstep rvr at Beno. Then ofcourse I could lagg myself to death at keep takes, yah NF is so great...nothing is good about it.
When NF was new and there was 2k population on each server you couldn't go anywhere at all, thats how crowded it was, and what caused it was the lack of tarvelling, ppl is just porting here n there, boat to that place and walk in caravan zergs from keep to tower etc.

Seriously I would like anyone to give me 10 geunuinly good things about NF that couldn't been implemented in OF instead.
