Oh my god! It took one of the top dogs of BarrysWorld to put the point of you lot being rude and intolerent to other users in the air. At last someone else had noticed, I thought I was the only one who noticed certain members of this forum were just downright rude.
I'm not sure a trial for anyone would be the answer because there might not be any flames during one persons "reign" but there might be more in anothers.

To be honest, we don't really need a mod, What would they do? As Ted said, they would only be for deleting those posts that are blatent spam, anything else would be pointless. That's the fun of the general forum.

Ted, if I were to be really honest I'd say that the General forum needs a janitor in the form of a regular and not a moderator in that guise. However as I'm not sure a vBB can be made to see a difference between someone allowed to tip threads in the trash and someone allowed to empty the metaphorical bucket [I do smell a fun project there tho, forgive the pun] I'd do the next best thing.
Personally I think you will be pleasantly suprised by some of the people put forward in this thread, were they given the chance to help.

When I noticed that some threads were only insults going back and forth, I assure you I wished I could close them. It's one thing to ask people to relax and try to keep things reasonable, it's another thing to be a mod and say the same. I'm aware that, sadly, some people will not listen to reason. Now that is where I'd like a regular with moderation rights. Someone who can bestow calm before peeps start pointing their mice at the "report this post" link.

To close, I'd just like to say please do something. Ask Embattle if he'll agree to help as a mod, ask me if I would. Ask someone else if you will. Trial us if you want. Look in on this forum more often. Keep an eye out for us if you don't think we are ready to do it ourselves. But give us a resolution please Ted. A thirteen and a half page thread on the subject doesn't exist because we're larking about.

TBH most the time I would just remove/close utter pimps and move stuff in to the correct areas. Hardware related questions would always go into the hardware forum. This would have the benefit of leading people there through the move link

Actually, thinking about it, TdC would be my first choice as mod (no offence Embattle but you do seem to have a tendancy to join in the flaming when things get heated, imo). TdC is forever handing out the fluffles.

Its obviously escaped the attention of some, but no-one is going to get the nod from all parties who read this as an acceptable or adequate moderator.
tbh, if we're to have them at all, I'd rather they were thrust upon us, by being approached in private, than the whole farce that is the pretence that we have an actual democractic thing going here.
