Funny thing is May secured 2 million more than Cameron when he beat Labour in 2010.
Its the young.voters, influenced presumably by social media who boosted Corbyn.
They turned up from 40% turnout last election to 72% this one.

Were, not are. The world has moved on apart from these sash wearing god bothering throwbacks. When the Catholics don't give a shit about being Catholic any more, what's the point of this lot?

Point being? she should have taken this election with a massive majority but she fucked it up royally, she isn't fit to lead.

I don't think I've seen Osborne not smiling in the last 48 hours, he's absolutely loving this.

Wouldn't surprise me, this government is currently in total chaos, there is nothing stable about it and I don't think Theresa May should be even allowed to continue Brexit talks given the shit storm shes kicked up.

Theresa May and Merkel said Brexit talks would go ahead but that could just be for the media until things gets sorted out.

At least Labour went to the trouble of having their manifesto independently costed. They have to do that because of their perception. The Tories didn't even bother - but then they were never going to stick to their manifesto pledges anyway so why the fuck would they?

Hang on. The Labour party may have had it independently costed, but that didn't mean it added up. Yeah, Yeah, you'll bang on about sources LMGTFY. Leave alone all the open ended wooliness. The National Grid alone was valued at £40billion around the time of the election. How many times did they spend the same funds from increased corp tax?

The Tories didn't add up either. Who even read the Lib Dems one?

Labour didn't expect to have to stick to their plans either, so they could spend the same money over and over, and never actually get found out. That's the beauty of assuming you'll lose. Lots of people don't seem to realise that they didn't actually win. Who knows how much of their manifesto they could have implemented from their tax raises, or would they have just gone straight out and borrowed for it.

Should there be another election in the next few months. When there will be a realistic chance of Labour winning. I would expect a slightly more realistic manifesto. It'll be interesting to see how they then sell that, and will give the tories something to really go after.

Lots of people don't seem to realise that neither did the Tories - or they wouldn't be having to hand over so much power to the DUP that a small number of extreme rightwing Irish protestant terrorists will effectively be getting to pick and choose policy for the entirety of the UK.

Regardless - I'd expect Labour to stand by every word of their manifesto in the event of another election. Anything else would be political idiocy and an admission that they are talking shit.

The Tories will have to change all of theirs - and open themselves up to accusations of flim--flamming in a desparate effort to win.

And aside from all the above - with the brexit referendum miscalculation, Boris' backstabbing, May's "anointment" via a "battle" with Leadsome, insistence on a non-mandated hard Brexit and the subsequent callous calling of an unnecessary GE out of fixed-term (on a ticket of Fox hunting and dementia tax) and the monumental clusterfuck and unprecedented meltdown of the "strong and stable" party they've proven themselves incompetent and untrustworthy.

Say what you like about Labour - but unless Corbyn gets a shot everyone's opinions on how they'll perform (or not) in government is just waffle and supposition.

The Tories are proven shite.

Maybe Hillary should've spent less time campaigning in california and actually visited michigan or wisconsin even once on the campaign trail then, winning the popular vote in a system that doesn't give a shit about the popular vote doesn't seem to be a very smart strategy.

I'm no fan of Trump, and defending Job... But he did win. He won under the system that they have. The popular vote doesn't matter one jot, until they change their rules.

Corbyn needs to go on TV and say he would launch Trident..that one statment would seal his identity as a srious potential prim minister...I'm not arsed about tax/tuition/ inheritance...its all just give and take with one hand and the other.
He still looks like and acts like hes just escaped from 'last of the summer wine.'

indeed, in that light Job is quite correct. I wonder if the US will change things once they get rid of Trump, now that's a question!

still, I do find it somewhat woeful that you can be a fan of someone winning a flawed system, while not having a plan, reacting on gut instinct, and not actually having done anything amazing yet, despite promises to the contrary.
