The bit that is really annoying me is how we keep hearing the Tories say how they are supporting the NHS, Disabled and working poor ect ect, yet every time they are challenged by people actually in those categories, people believe the Tories and not the people actually living it lol

It's because there's very little social cohesion anymore - it's like the oldest Tory trick in the book; divide and conquer. It's working amazingly.

Now you sound like everyone's favourite racist, Diane Abbot. You just need change "Tory" to "White people" :)

The problem is that everyone forms their opinion based on newspapers and social media echo chambers, people don't like to be challenged and completely refuse to even listen, let alone discuss any opinion that does not fit their own. The Tories are taking advantage of that but they certainly didn't introduce it. You end up with constant arguments about trivial things like personalities, out of context bollocks and the important things, like actual policy gets ignored.

24 hours news news news doesn't help because they have to fill the void with the same talking heads spewing their opinion all over the place, rather than just delivering the factual news and allowing people to make up their own minds.

They do believe it, they just don't care.

These have to be the weirdest political years in recent history.
If youd asked someone to arrange a Tory loss, they couldnt have done much better than introduce those three highly unpopular manifesto pledges...if you had the slightest ounce of conspiracy theory in you, youd have to consider they want to lose.

I think they are just so unshakably arrogant that they are actually surprised by it all. They clearly had a plan long before the "snap" election, they probably put it in motion the day May got the gig. Labour have been so far behind that on the face of it, it should be a walk over.
There appears to be a populist uprising with regards to "anyone but the Tories" which means a befuddled old red that was not so long ago a nameless back bencher could end up as PM via a coalition. Even a week ago I would have thought it impossible.

May is absolutely bricking it, its hilarious.

I don't actually have a problem with the odd U-turn, it shows that they are willing to listen to reason but the amount of U-turns the Tories are pulling off they have clearly misjudged the electorate and how much bullshit we are prepared to put up with.

A bit like that the media is trying to make it look like Corbyn is going to turn the UK into Cuba, when if you actually read at what they're doing, it's not actually that extreme?

Bit like that eh?

Postal vote arrived this morning, I was getting worried because the person I'd been using as proxy fucked off on holiday without telling me and won't be back until after the election... been in a mad dash trying to get postal vote sorted out 1 day before the cut off date for it's registration - thankfully they accepted it and I've got my lovely postal vote sat in front of me \o/

I just did this, 50% lib dem, 21.4% Greens 21.4% Tories 7.1% UKIP.

RACIST CONFIRMED.

One policy popped up which caught my attention; if 3/4 of people on a University course get a job where their degree is required 5 years after graduating, that course then becomes free.

Something I've always liked the idea of tbh.

I BEAT YOU RACIST.

Conservatives
33.3%
Green Party
33.3%
UKIP
33.3%

Edit: UKIP because I supported an English parliament, scrap the house of lords, a more proportional voting system and (unsurprisingly) tighten up immigration.

Greens because scrap trident, invest more in wind farms and bin CO2 heavy power generation.

There's quite an overlap of UKIP and Green in the SNP policies (also, I know this site is not for Scotland).

Hmmm.

I did go for protection of greenbelt but build more affordable homes, freedom of movement, continued cooperation with the EU on policing and intel, proper control of landlords and removal of tax dodges for buy-to-let, legalisation of cannabis and less strict drug laws.

Would probably get different results if I had selected other topics at the start. Not bothered about education, the wife is getting out of it sharpish, with her two degrees and special needs training she is still on minimum wage, she can get far more doing something else.

Green Party 42.9%

Oh. Well there we go. Can't say the greens have ever really been on my radar.
Certainly gives some food for thought when you can't see who is proposing what, obviously not including the usual 'Burning babies' Conservative policies and 'Yes, Comrade' Labour. ;)

It's funny, the VAST majority of people would love to see Green Party policies in place.

Yet they're so tiny.

I wonder if this website tracks results, I bet the Green Party are leading the way.

Can I interest you in a Scotland? In a Scotland, we have a mixed manifesto of fantasy, wind power, lack of nukes, Sturgeon pussy, no wars, Freedom and tree hugging.

When you say reality kicks in doesnt that also hold true for Tories because what they say on TV is 100% false for a large % of the country

Indeed, although ironically back peddling on the poorly thought out social policy has done that imo.

Lovely to see lots of technically sane people actually believing election promises.
They are firing off bullshit to grab votes...have done since the dawn of voting...yet we discuss them like they are facts.

What else are we meant to do? discuss what sort of lube we should be applying before the election? every party lies, always have, always will. We need to make the most of what we can, though; SOME of their promises do come to fruition (very little mind you) and from what I've heard thus far Labour is by far the only obvious choice here for anyone that gives a flying fuck about human life, to vote for the Conservative after the past record and how they've acted since they came to power is utterly shameful. Anyone who votes Conservative is complicit in their shady dealings towards vulnerable people.

And yet just a couple of days later...

Kinnock was supposed to do really well. Ed was supposed to have a chance. Corbyn supporters are VERY VERY LOUD! A lot of tories are quiet conservatives with little interest in social media or hanging signs.

It's going to be interesting.

Tbh, I'm willing to give her a chance - we've put up with a Tory government, I think it's only fair to see how Abbot performs despite obvious things... never know, she might surprise you (might!)

There's a chance that in 15 odd years, perhaps more, of being on Freddys and Barrysworld, that could be the most ridiculous sentiment I've read. Which is remarkable considering some of the strange shit posted on here in that time.

Diane Abbot is the stupidest, most odious individual to ever hold any kind of political position in this country in my lifetime. To think that she could hold some kind of actual position of power is just chilling.
