Uh, Nintendo started television advertising a few days after Microsoft's first offerings, which was like, beginning of March or earlier.

hmmm, i don't remember seeing any back then - but thats probably due to fact that a Xbox ad is on almost every ad break while Nintendo probably ain't spending as much.

PS2 V GC

Do people think the PS2 will come down in price as the xbox has been cut in price and the GC under £140.

Im actually considering getting a PS2, cos we dont have a DVD player in the lounge. Kinda kills 2 birds etc.

The Scart lead it comes with is a Composite lead. If your TV is RGB compatible you will see the difference in quality with an RGB lead.

I use one for my PSone and my DC and it rocks. Solid, crystal clear picture.

Audiogalaxy search. If you still can't find it, you're a silly.

That will just be a pal to scart adapter, not true scart. Same as the X-Box does, which is damn annoying.

I'm going to get the RGB as soon as I see it since it also enables 60Hz support :)

Not correct. The composite and S-Video leads allow 60Hz now if your TV can handle it.

RGB just gives the best picture quality.

The cable(AV) that comes with the GC does not support 60Hz as far as I know.

It will support the 60Hz, just won't be as high quality as true scart. Same as the X-Box I'd imagine, standard AV cable supports 60Hz just pap quality image.

in video theres no such thing as a '60hz cable' - anything will run 60hz, but if the cable isn't great quality (e.g. composite) then you're pusing extra signal down an already poop piece of wire - the result will be that the picture is more steady but not quite as sharp as compared to still frames taken @ 50hz.

I've got a minor dilemma as my gc arrives today - my xbox uses one of my tellys s-video - the other is used by my harmon/kardon dvd player... the ps2 uses scart as does the dreamcast and digital telly...

so do i bother to go getting a scart switch or shall I just climb round the back of my tv every time I want to play a console that isn't plumbed in? I hear theres an s-video pack coming for the unit... it would be easier in some respects to wait for that...

heh, mebbe I should wait til the damn thing arrives today and then decide based on how good/poop the picture looks!

i think i'll try and get that RGB cable - having four consoles connected to my telly and still having spare sockets is nice, ain't got any s-video cables tho so the other sockets shall remain empty.

Just want star wars to arrive :(

heh...

gamecube arrived this morning...

had the two titles i expected, luigis and wave race and rather unexpectedly super smash brothers which is a bit repetitive to say the least but pretty cool to be able to run around as pikachu zapping and twatting nintendo 'stars' nonetheless...

just gotta wait for sonic and super monkey ball now.... heh

as to picture quality it's very clean/crisp on scart, just gotta wait for the official high-res av kit and we'll see if it gets any better.
