Anyone going to check out game stars on ITV1 this Easter Weekend. ? Apparently ITV have invested a load of dosh into this televised event of LAN gaming.

Apparently this kind of thing is very popular in the far east

Then they pulled on Jade Goody to present an award.

Yeah it was pretty sad I thought ... I mean why drag out Trevor McDonald who's clearly never played a game to present an award.
Also I think they should have made it clearer that basically it was just console games etc., that were up for awards. (Though a few had also come out on PC i.e. GTA)
And the competition for 'Britains Best Gamer' ... again all console ... a first to 10 Timesplitters 2 deathmatch, a one round knockout Tekken final.
I reckon the prize the winner probably liked the most was to actually get a kiss and a hug from a real girl!
All in all - pap!

Well, at least the insanely overated GTA didn't win everything going like I was expecting it too. Out of the fairly poor selection I thought the voting was fairly sensible as a whole.

As for the britains best gamer thing, what a joke. The only footage we got to see was of the least interesting round of Tekken ever fought and even that was interrupted by constant shots of the people playing.

Bring back Gamesmaster tbh.

I had the tele on ITV by chance when it came on, and i thought that it could be interesting to see what it was like. When, after only minutes, a Lara Croft look-alike was descending down a rope, i stuck the tele on mute and went back to browsing the web. It seems i didn't miss much

Well it did stink, but it's a start and hopefully more programs will be made that don't give out shitty awards and actually show some REAL gaming. Sunday afternoon was a pretty good slot for it really considering the content.

On the downside more programs of this sort will attract more of the mediocre masses to our online sanctuary ;(

Yes it is You're just saying that because you never had the skill to complete it

If you never tried completing the Vice City levels, with 5lives, then how would you know how easy it is? As you've pointed out, to get the amount of money you needed took alot of playing - If you never did that amount of playing, you wouldn't know how hard it is to get that amount of money with 5lives.

I got to about mission 340, made well over a million a mission and earned in all, about 700 m. Took about 2 hours :/
