They sure are taking some liberties with the books. Also going through book three at some pace, which is a shame as the pacing in both parts of book three is excellent - and means the clusterfuck that is book four is approaching much more quickly than I'd have liked.

While I agree, I think if they included everything it would have to be 40 episodes a series and plod a little.

Also...Paul Kaye and Diana Rigg, more perfect casting!

The Queen of Thorns part was excellent! Would have liked some singing though ;-)

I'm pretty sure books four and five will be done completely differently for TV.

It's a shame Maggie Smith already plays this part on Downton....she would have been perfect. In the episode the first shot we see of that character is from behind while Sansa approaches and I was definitely thinking at that moment "God it would be awesome if this was Maggie Smith....or even Judy Dench".

The Carslberg of TV shows.

Yes it moves away from the book quite a lot, yes it is still excellent.

Episode 3 was pretty ace.
I liked were they were going with Jaime and Brynn, then out of the blue he loses a hand. I was expecting a finger maybe, but what good will the Kingslayer be now!

The scene with the Squire and the prostitutes was pretty hilarious, specially Bronn and Tyrion. Best scene of the episode by a mile. Currently not so interested in the King of the North stuff, it felt like it had so much promise then next minute he gets married and it gets a bit dull.

Read the damn books my brethren!

It's like the show but with meat behind the events.

As it gets closer here is a quick Game of Thrones trivia/random facts quiz:

1) Name three Game of Thrones characters/actors who have been immortalised in Lego.
2) Name the character/actor who is famous for only saying 'Yarp' in another hit film.
3) Name the character/actor who is a Number 1 chart topping singer
4) Spot the porn stars in Game of thrones!

I've realised that I never got around to giving the answers to these questions so for those of you interested:

1) Eddard Stark/Sean Bean as Boromir in Lord of the Rings
Walder Frey/David Bradley as Argus Flich in Harry Potter
Grand Maester Pycelle/Julian Glover as General Veers in Star Wars (The AT-AT commander on Hoth). He also voiced Aragog in Harry Potter but that's a giant spider do maybe doesn't count.
2) Sandor 'The Hound' Clegane / Rory McCann as Michael Armstrong in Hot Fuzz
3) Bronn/Jerome Flynn as part of duo Robson and Jerome
4) Shae played by Sibel Kekilli
Daisy played by Maisee Dee (Is new and talks to Rose in the brothel then is the one in Grand Maester Pycelles chamber when he is locked up and she is the one beaten in Joffrey's chamber)
Armeca played by Sahara Knite (used frequently in the brothel and is seen with Bronn before the battle of Blackwater bay)

Brilliant ending, even when you know what's coming. Varys' tale on the other hand, much more powerful than in the book.

I think that's a testament to Conleth Hill, some actors just exceed their role.

I love it how House Tyrell is the the family with their fingers in all the pies, the power they could potentially have.

I really like the actor that plays Varys. He was good in Suits as well.

Episode 5 was fantastic, I thought that Jaime's story in the hot bath was superbly done. I haven't read the books so this is all entirely unexpected.
