Well I guess if tris can afford it yeah he'll come with me.

I'll still have most of my student loan to hand and i'm pretty sure I can skip introduction to markup languages (Hahahah).

I'll need to wake up early on the Saturday like, national rail, woo....

Better get me rail card!

Hmm yes forums, I remember these...

I've been to er.. 2 Barry/FreddyBeers and 1 psuedo-FB (read: guild meet), and I enjoyed them as much as the next guy (except being horribly ill after the last one - blah!). Still, I have to wonder why people insist on holding them in fucking London all the time. Contrary to popular belief, it is not the centre of the universe (despite what many of its inhabitants will tell you (no offence to the nice people)).

I didn't attend the last one for two reasons - firstly it was in a shitty location (read: pointlessly expensive and pretentious) and secondly, I happened to be broke at the time.

If you do insist on holding them in London, please pick somewhere sensible that doesn't shout "we're better than you" as you walk through the door. There was nothing wrong with the Albion in Islington (and it had the added bonus of being located not far from a death-burger shop), or the Globe on Baker St (though I think we pissed them off by not having enough show up). The best location was the place in erm.. Kew Gardens was it? Just up the road from Richmond. A dedicated floor to ourselves, and friendly staff (probably because Deebs kept giving them money!).

It's London because:

a) A lot of people on these boards are based in or around London.
b) London is the easiest place in the country to get to. It has by far and away the best transport system.
c) There's nowhere that's half decent that isn't expensive these days, unless you live in a fucking hole like Grimsby. Actually wait, if you are in a hole like Grimsby there's nothing half decent full stop.
d) You ask for it not to shout "I'm better than you" and yet you want it to be held in Richmond/Kew? Do you realise that after Kensington and Chelsea, Richmond Borough is the second most expensive place in the entire country, with a hugely disproportionate rich:poor ratio? Also, have you realised yet that Richmond borough is a London borough?

I can't make it for similar reasons to you, but there is logic in the decision and it's not made to try and make you feel small or insignificant. If it is doing so then I would suggest you seek help for you are far, FAR too insecure.

Where we went last time definitely was not an I am better than you place. Belgos Central is really really reasonable. £40 per head including drinks is pretty good going anywhere in the country (as far as I can see.. as I have paid more in both Birmingham and Glasgow recently).

Especially when you consider the number of drinks and the fact that Chet had two (yes two) puddings.

I can actually make this. Provided someone can put me up, either just for Saturday, or for Friday and Saturday. :)

Richmond is not the best place for a freddybeer. I should know as I live there. Neither is any location outside of zone 1/2. Because it is a total PITA to get across late at night in order to get trains home. I'm thinking in terms of people that live further away than london etc. I have a couple of ideas of new places to visit around waterloo and south bank.

Google Maps

You should be able to add your location to this so I have a rough idea where everyone is coming from.

Well, it was only a suggestion, and generally tends to be less crowded than central london. I appreciate its not central, but meh....it was enoyed last time.
