I'm not disagreeing with you DaGaffer *hands back gauntlet* So no worries, i won't be arguing with you.

All it merely pointed out is that if Scouse requires disproof to abandon science, it's in a same way quite impossible to abandon religion since it can't be disproven.

Wasn't saying anything about how atheists are, or how science works, or how religion needs disprooving.

Ok? Calm now? :p

Heres an example of how science should work - Are Sunspots Disappearing? - NASA Science

Now from observations these guys built a theory and then used it to predict the dis-appearance of sunspots.

I have no idea if they are wrong or right but their prediction will either come true or it wont.

If it does it will be an important proof for the theory but other scientists may still attack the weaknesses of the theory - if L&P can address these attacks then the theory will become the stronger for it and may gain wider acceptance.

When you write "you people" you should bear in mind the date of the USA's declaration of independence, and the political allegiances of its member states before this declaration. You should also bear in mind precisely when the UK outlawed slavery and its transportation, and the dates on which your Capitol building was built.

In short, you appear to be rather ignorant of your country's history.

LOL irrespective of date, or who built what and when the question remains what country initiated the west african slave trade and led the world in the exportation of africans to the new world during the 17th and 18th centuries? what country advocated and equipped some african tribes to capture other africans to be sold into the slavery? c'mon don't be shy, we all know the answer.

squirm as much as you can, you are fodder. the loss of blood is draining you to an even pastier shade of white. soon you will weaken and be consumed.

What i love about americans is the "They were our forefathers!" "They founded our fine land!" "Those were true americans!"

Then someones says along the lines of;

"Your country was formed on genocide."

And suddenly it's;

"Those were the british!"

And there were no slaves in the US?
And no killing of Indians?

Come on if you are going to be "holier than thou" then you best have a very clean slate...

nope. I personally believe that the conquest and subjugation of the amerind was absolutely essential and was executed in a fashion that was acceptable for the time. to judge the actions of the united states in it's execution of unifying the nation by today's standards is disingenuous.

to have you weak kneed willies over in yurope call into question anything the US has done ever is laughable given your history in dealing with native peoples everywhere.

you will excuse me as I whip this out and piss all over you guys. you look better in yellow anyway.

Go right ahead, haven't seen a micro-organism in ages.

FYI; you can't nswer "nope" to something like that. It wasn't an option, it was a statement.

Maybe "i disagree" or "You're wrong", but nope? Learn your language.

the Spanish?
well now let's see BZZZZZZZ wrong answer I'm afraid.

while the spanish did contribute to the problem of slavery primarily with their policy of asiento who were the principal antagonists in the transportation of the actual human cargo?

LOL

in all fairness the african slave trade wasn't instigated by the yuropeans. slavery was a long standing practice in vicious africa. much like crucifiction wasn't a roman invention but a persian method of capital punishment/torture it took deviant yuropean tinkering to make it truly perfectly horrible.

The Portuguese and Spanish, followed by the British, who were also one of the first countries to outlaw the slave trade, and whose Navy then committed itself to the task of stopping the practice.

Next?

thanks for that, you've just renderd void all the arguments your friends made in this thread except SR-71 Blackbird (which, in an aside, I personally find a beautiful airplane. it, and the Chinook Helicopter are imo awesome flying machines. I've been lucky enough to fly on a Chinook, sadly I will probably never be allowed on a Blackbird).
also, I wonder if the Native American populous of the time would agree with you then or now regarding "unifying" anything. Ofc we can't argue about that according to you.

I was actually just jerking your chain. You respond rather well to that. Perhaps I should have said Portugal? Reading your link, I see that Portugal, Spain, England, Holland and the US were all assholes. maybe we should accept it and move on.

regarding invention or refining of implements of torture, sadly I must agree with you that not Europeans, but humans in general display a terrible knack for creating devices capable of efficiently hurting other humans. A year or so ago, I was in a castle in Gent, Belguim which was inhabited at the time, 1600's I believe, by a local Count. There were rooms and rooms of torture implements on display including knives that were specially designed to cut off people's hands and feet. You could tell they had been used often, because they had been sharpened and sharpened until the blades were concave. It made me physically unwell to look at them :(

Guess you defend hitler too, because "those were the times, ah well!"

Gents, Congratulations on building a thread/clusterfuck of monumental proportions. Of course, you couldn't possibly have done it without us uncouth Yanks.. A thread to tell your grand kids about. And as you read back over it... Reminiscing about the good times... Shedding a tear for the bad.. Maybe just maybe... You might learn something about yourself that you didn't know.

/me waves to our poor American relations (in a good way)

it sounds to me that this could be perceived as a white flag waved aloft ?

sorry I didnt get involved sooner - some of the comments (from both sides of the pond) made me cringe on more than one occasion.

Mind you - been a long, long time since a thread of this size appeared on the forum and actually enjoyed readin most of that. Kudos to all thos that DID post in the thread (apart from the virus twattor)

A white flag? Not on your life. Just an acknowledgment that this hodge-podge mess has been fun to make.

yanking my chain? LOL there aren't enough of you to get a grip, if you could find and then place a chain.

try again.

anyway I can see it that your level of delusion in conjunction with your indoctrination prevent any of you from seeing let alone admitting any culpability regarding your enthusiastic participation in the transatlantic slave trade in spite of the well documented international leadership of anglish companies in the aforementioned slave trade with the tacit approval of the anglish gubmint.

I hope you'll consider this next sentence and perhaps provide a forthright reply. why is it that every island in the caribbean that was once an anglish colony is today populated by predominantly african descendants with negligible miscegenation whereas the islands that were former spanish possessions are at least 25% pure european descent and the rest of the population mulatto?

blaming others for the American slave trade ?

Supply and demand springs to mind (if there was no demand from the Americans for slaves then there would be noone supplying them in the first place.

Slavery isnt a novelty from the modern era - its being going on since over 1700 years BC (if you beleve in God) - probably a long time beforehand.

I've never understood this idea of feeling guilty for things that you had nothing to do with but if there was such a thing then America - a country built on the back of slave labour would surely be high on the list and lets not forget the centuries of segregation that followed the abolition - Negro Leagues Baseball anyone?

Sadly you still live in a largely racially segregated country so its probably safer for you to have a historical discussion about the origins of slavery :p

the Spanish?

Correct (with the Portugese). Followed by the Dutch (bad Dutchie!). The English came to the game quite late, but as is often the way, were a lot better at it than everyone else. And throwing up the Asiento as evidence the English somehow instigated the slave trade is to confuse cause and effect. The English got the Asiento not because they had more slave ships (although they did) but because they forced the Spanish to give them the Asiento down the barrel of a gun.

But, the British were also the first to stop the slave trade, over 30 years before the Americans (58 years in the UK itself, 33 years across the Empire).
