Firewire problems

It's my day for hardware problems it seems! I bought a firewire card to plug my spangly new external hd (yay it arrived today!) into last week. I put the card in and it installed the drivers and came back with the error "This device cannot start. (Code 10)". I didn't do anything about it yet because I thought it might magically work the second I actually plugged a firewire device into the card (I bought the card a week before the hd). But no, nothing. :(

if the drivers are installed (and by that i mean the latest from the web, not necessarily what came on the CD) and you've installed the card into a slot which isn't sharing any IRQs, just delete the device from device manager (right click->uninstall under XP) and reboot, it should reinstall fine.

If it doesn't let us know.

I took the slack route and bought another card instead. :)

And neither of the firewire cards that I've bought have come with a cd.
