Lost in translation

I must say i like quite a lot of the movies a lot of people have mentioned here :p (not transformers tho, but i didn't think they were considered good movies so can't really be disappointed with it)

Well that is in general going to be true :)

I have to disagree with you there.
Ringu is one of the few films to ever give me goosebumps.
I also think Hiroyuki Sanada is a good actor, but that's just my opinion. :)

300 was utter trash, but District 9? Are you cereal?

Was way overhyped. The aliens just replaced blacks in a story about apartheid, until the ending, which was unsatisfying in every way.

That was half the point of the film though wasn't it?

You're MENTAL.

Also Sideways and Sin City are great films.

Don't like:
Any pixar films
Any disney films
Anything that can fit under the genre "torture porn"
Steven Spielberg (barring the original Indy films)
"Romantic comedies"
Will Ferrell
Adam Sandler
Peter Jackson

that'll do for now, more to come as I recall them though.

Oh Brother where art thou. Had to turn it off, dreadful film.

Yes! Someone else who turned it off half way through, as did I :).

Ok, I was slightly amused by the "I'm a dapper dan man" bit, but my word how boring.

Sin City was a bobby dazzler, captured the comic book essence really well. Still dont compare to g.novel.

Why do you all hate classics?

Classics according to who? A bunch of reviews? A bunch of so-called panel of experts? Mark Kermode?

This thread is about what you thought was shite and overrated and not what other people's opinions are.

Can I add Matrix Revolutions to my list, I was in tears with laughter along with my mate in the cinema in places, particularly when his eyes got burned.

Yeah Matrix Reloaded and Revolutions, soo much hype, soo poor. Real waste of an opportunity to make a classic trilogy.

They weren't that bad.

Kermode is a giant prick.

I don't see any film critic's "classics" being dumped on here. Unless you're retarded enough to think LotR is in any way classic.

A new one now - Public Enemies, holy jesus what an utter wank film that is. So very boring and so very shit.

I liked first and last Matrix, second was AIDS of highest order though.

I have to agree on Public Enemies, it was meant to be so good, the trailer was great, the film was so slow paced and boring.

It was directed by Mann, there's your reason why it looked like it could be good but was ultimately shit. He's a woeful, shallow director.

At least Bay and others like him don't try/claim to be anything other than Hollywood fodder.

Bay doesn't claim to be anything else but makes awful action movies. I've no idea what Mann claims to be but most of his films are tip-top popcorn flicks.

Oh, and The Insider was fantastic.

I'd rather go into a film knowing it's going to be poor than going in thinking it'll be great to have your face shat on.

I prefer to not go to films if I know it's going to be poor and go in with an open mind on the others.

That said, I've not seen Public Enemies so I'm not defending that.

I got the insider I thought it was shite.

I liked Lock Stock too, mind you I did think it was a documentary.

LMAO! :D

The Insider was an immense film though. Russel Crowe was perfect in it, about the best performance I think I have ever seen.

Ah yes, Russell Crowe.

American Gangster is on my overrated list, my parents raved about it, I thought it was way too long and just not that good.

I agree, it was bloated and boring.

Honestly though Crowe was gob smackingly good in The Insider, when he stumbled down the grass verge, even that was perfection. He is an almighty fuck burger though and no mistake.

That is a point actually.

Star Wars, the 3 new movies.

The first 3 I found average, nothing worship worthy.

Agrees

Also agree with Sin city
I Am Legend was a major let down after remembering the original and also watching them shoot some of the scenes in NY

Throws in
Latter "old" Star Trek movies apart from the most recent)
Cape Fear
Battlestar Gallactica
Sleepless in Seattle
When Harry Met Sally
Mad Max 2, 3 and the rest (if there was any)
