The BBC are reporting that The Martian won the Best comedy or musical award at the Golden globes...

er...was it supposed to be funny? I know a few bits were funnyish but I wouldn't call it a comedy and I certainly don't remember any singing.

Great film, but what?!

Ricky Gervais presenting the award certainly made the most of the ridiculous category (they basically put it in there because they knew there were too many films against it in the drama award). Love the Ben Affleck joke as well.

It was the Bruce/Caitlyn Jenner gag that made me laugh. They must love it or they wouldn't have asked him back for a 4th time

i think Matt Damon loved the Ben Affleck joke too - and that's his best mate.

Ricky was quality on Sunday night though, and apparently, he's already been invited back to do next years. From what I can tell he basically got smashed and abused everyone on stage. Like it Ricky, like it.

Dunno why but I also thought it was good to see Mel Gibson give him some shit back as well. Hope it marks his return tbh, as before he went nuts he did some great films - Lethal Weapons, Ransom, Payback, Air America, the one the SNP use as a party political broadcast, etc. Just no more Apocalypto or What Women Want please, they were a bit shit.

I loved the Lethal Weapon films, bought them recently on Blu-Ray just to relive my youth :)

I watched The Force Awakens at the weekend and I thought it was a spectacular film. The new cast were excellent. Han Solo was great, Leia was OK and
thanks God Luke had no lines. He even looked shit in that little part.
The whole film was brilliantly put together for me and JJ Abrams if he is only good at one things it is restarting these franchises in a way that lets anyone watch them.

What's your problem with Mark Hamill? Its quite ironic you're crowing about lines when he's regarded as one of the best voice actors around. (Best Joker ever).

He had no lines though so his ability as a voice actor does not really matter. I just always though he was cheesy and really over the top. I did not rate him in the Originals either I thought there were better actors out there who could have done a better job. So when he just stood there with that look on his face it just made me laugh like he was trying to hard to show too much emotion.

Well tough, because I expect he'll be doing a lot more talking in Episode VIII

Yep. As the new taller Yoda. Before dying and then disappearing whilst under a blanket in his "mountain rock cave" as a not-quite-ready Rey looks on in Episode IX.

Anyway. I actually thought he was fantastic in the originals. The "I'm with you too" moment in Jedi was his character's cheesiest, but not actually his fault :)

Yep gotta go with the old timer and the wheel hub botherer here I'm afraid. Mark Hamill *is* Star Wars and I am praying he makes the next one watchable
The Force Sleeps only got good when the original characters showed up

The thing you're forgetting about Hamill, is that he was freaking awesome in Wing Commander 3.

And that Ginger Lynn Allen was the porn star you tried to get his character to biff ;)

Ah so you went for her as well? :)

Damn I loved Wing Commander, especially 3. That last mission to blow up Kilrah was fucking epic.

We need a new WC game, stat.

Got around to the revenant. Tom Hardy should get an oscar for best supporting, but all leos character did was either look stoic or be suffering, wasn't really a great performance - because the role didn't allow for it.

Just watched Rock The Kasbar with Bill Murray. What a great movie! If you have not seen it suggest you do.

Bill is a legend.
