Alright lads long time no speak.

Winters coming and i intend on not doing much tbh... Other than playing some PC games as MMORPG's are pure ass on console.

I've got about 500-600 quid to spend on a basic, half decent computer... I want it to be able to run games such as elder scrolls online, WoW (maybe), Guild Wars 2 and maybe even a bit of cod but most definitely camelot unchained if it ever gets released.

I miss the pc days. I really do... Maybe I'm trying to relive my youth due to the fact I'm like 26 going on 40.

I used to have a basic idea on computers back in the day but i see these computers with 8 gb of ram lolz i remember having 128mb trying to play DAoC with chodax trying to help lower my fps so i can go on a relic raid.

Can you guys point me in the right direction? Much appreciated

I can upgrade the graphics and ram at a later date i just require something to get me started.

I've just took a look on pcspecialist.co.uk. I could create my own spec on there for fairly cheap i guess unless you have any other suggestions

Scan today only page almost always has a solid start for a mid range pc, there's even one there today.

http://www.scan.co.uk/todayonly

You get case, motherboard, cpu, ram, power supply.

You'd just need a drive ( missed some great black friday deals ) - but there are some decent deals on that page as well ( pick any 120/240 gb ssd ).
Then just add a graphics card that fits your price range and bobs your fathers brother.

I'd recommend a gtx 970 or an R9 390, but that would put the build a little over your price range.

Although - I'm making the assumption you have a monitor/mouse/kb lying around there.

Do you have _anything_ at the moment? mouse/kb/monitor?

If you need that as well, then you need to sacrifice on the build somewhat.

Also specifically what games do you have in mind?

Nope. That is bad.

Roger...

  • AMD A10 7700K Black, 3.8GHz Quad Core
  • Asus A68AH-PLUS, AMD A68 Chipset
  • 8GB Corsair Vengeance 1600MHz
  • AMD Radeon APU integrated R7 GPU
  • 1TB Seagate 7200rpm HDD
  • Microsoft Windows 10 64bit & 3 Year Premium Warranty

£501. That was just off spending 5 minutes on the website... Are integrated graphics still crap?

Cheers dude

I have a 19 inch HP monitor at home, its a half decent one and it will do until i get paid.

mouse and keyboard will be easy enough to pick up.

Basically mate i just wanna play MMORPG's. Maybe the odd shooter like the new cod and possibly fallout. Everything i have on my ps4 but on the PC. I also want it for the usual movies, music, printing etc.

So..

WoW
Guild Wars 2
ESO
CoD
Fallout
Skyrim

I'd strongly recommend building it yourself.
You will save £100 at least on the component cost, and you can get a grey market copy of windows 10 for £15.

I've been told that AMD allows Crossfire over an APU and a GPU, so you could get a cheap and cheerful AMD GPU card to go with that and get a lot of bang for your buck.

Re a PSU, it's not all about the Watts. A PSU is most efficient loaded around 40-50% of it's rated power, so it's generally a good idea to size for that. I don't do that myself, but that's also because I'm a lazy fucker. My gaming PC pulls about 500W (SLI + OC'd CPU) out of the wall and I have a 750W PSU in it.

Add to cart from the today only page or you won't get that price ( ssd/gpu ).

Heh you're right - page isn't there, weird. Even if you click from the today only page .

Add to cart works fine though :)

I've got it all in my basket now ready to go...

Can you suggest a half decent monitor whilst we're at it?

Cheers dude

Your main issue then is getting a copy of windows.

Cheapest way: http://www.kinguin.net/product/107865/windows-7-professional-oem-key-sp1/

Buy from the £5.79 dude, it'll upgrade to a windows 10 license - but you'll need to install windows 10 - skip activation, upgrade it to the latest update, then it'll activate using that key.

You'll need to download it onto a usb pendrive from MS - download the creation tool here.

Thanks for your time today mate… I'll be in touch probably on Tuesday if I have any questions!

Hi mate...

Would it be advisable to drop the graphics a bit and stick another stick of ram 8gb ram in? If you was to drop the graphics at all, what would you drop it to?

Thanks again

nah chumlar, 8GB is plenty for those games you have in mind and will be fine for all sorts. you'll notice a *much* better return putting that cash into a better gfx card than 16GB of ram. also, memory is comparatively cheap and easy to do, so if you ever end up needing more you can do it whenever you want.

You really don't need over 8gb for gaming.

If i snap it a bit too much will it mean i have 11.5gb?
Yeah man, some people have done that, and they've reported amazing results.

PS.

I just choked on my tea and spat it through my nose.
