Good Lagers:-

Asahi (noone mentioned this yet ??)
Budvar (the Czech one, not the American piss)
Coors Light (see it's not an anti-USA thing, Budweiser is just naff)
Carlsberg Export
Oranjeboom (lots of ppl hate this cos it gives you a monster headache :))
Nastro Azzuro
Miller

Bad Lagers:-

Carling !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1111 (nothing comes close to the foulness of Carling)

Wines (for about a fiver, obviously just check the Parker Rating for decent stuff):-

Tesco Finest Vintage Cava
Hardy's Crest Whites
Oxford Landing Sauvignon Blanc

um - can't think of much else. I like expensive wines :( Gimme a cloudy Bay and I'm as happy as a pig at a pig-wankers' convention.

I've said it before and I'll say it again, alcohol is dirty and wrong. Won't ever touch beer or anything of the sort (who in their right mind wants to drink something that tastes bitter?!!?! Seriously think about it? Bitter. Imagine drinking rusty water or something. Same as beer to me.)

Wine I'll touch on occasions because, unlike most alcohol, is actually designed with taste primarily in mind. Red wine is horrible though, will only touch white - normally some chardonnay of some kind. Those occasions will probably be about 2 glasses twice a year.

What amazes me most about this country is the people's refusal to accept someone that does not drink. My friends have known me for a long time, some of them years and years and never ever have they seen me pissed. Yet, practically every night they still try and get me to drink, and will still try and persuade me to get drunk, even though I have explained to them on several occasions the many reasons I don't drink. Why can't the country leave the people who have the sense of mind to not make themselevs behave like a twat for an evening do it ffs?

For all those ***** that shout back at me "it's just fun", there are perfectly good ways of having "fun" while getting out of your face without behaving like a twat.

Catby refuses to accept this, and proceeds to go have fun with beer. :)

Catsby asks if you smoke instead?
And Catsby does not mean the non-wacky tobacco.

At this point Catsby would like to proffer his sincere apologies for the use of a double negative. He is ashamed.

Hmm...

White beer/Lager: Warsteiner, Grolsch, Kronenbourg, Stella, Leffe, Hoegaarden

Bitter: OP, Flowers, Black Sheep, Hambletons, Timmy Taylor's Best (Landlord is teh suq!!1), Tennent's Velvet, Spitfire, Anything by Hook Norton brewery or Morrells, Waggledance is nice on occasion, Dog's Bollocks, Tanglefoot, Bishop's Finger, Wife Beater...the list is endless. There is some shite tho: Smiths, for a start :puke:

Wine: The only real wine is red, imo. I prefer riojas to cabernet, but there are some good ones. Jacob's Creek cabernet is particularly pleasant, as is Turning Leaf.

Whites...hmm. Haven't had a good white in a very long time. I prefer champagnes, anyway, but that's just me.

I love the taste of beer Waz man. It's just the nicest drink in the world. What else would I drink on an evening ? Tea, water, coke ? All yuckeh :(

Getting drunk is a completely different reason to drink that I rarely bother with.

Frizz - if that hand stinks of Carling I will spew on it

If not, Miller for Lager

Kronenberg 1664 if I can get it... not many places seem to do it around here :/
Budweiser (american stuff) is the same....
Fosters or more usually Stella, is what I usually drink, depending on which part of town we're in.

Carling makes my tongue curl up and want to kill itself.

Nowt wrong with a bottle of Tuborg either :D

For those who like their Belgium beers :-

If you can find it - Hoegaarden Grand Cru. Ambrosia of the Gods!

Tastes better than the normal variety and with a 9% alochol kick to it

swift^, not everyone likes a **** when they get drunk. maybe you just knew/know the wrong people. when my friends and i get drunk, we are about as far away as being a **** as you could be. we dance, we laugh, we go home and sleep.

and to answer the question -

grolcsh (sp?)
stella
kronenberg 1664
fresh budweiser (i had it a week after it had been brewed, ice cold straight from the barrel. nothing ever tasted as good as that and i doubt anything ever will)

spirit - vodka

do not touch wine, bitters or whiskies. fucking rancid.

Mount Horrocks Clare Valley Red - Shiraz

Rosemount is watered down crap
Jacobs creek is average

Never had Mount Horrocks but the Clare Valley is very good generally

You might want to try Haselgrove, Penfolds, Peter Lehman and Henshcke if you can get your hands on some...
Some of the better wines i've had
Though i'm no expert - but all my friends doing wine making are slowly changing that

as far as beer goes
Australian
---------
James Squires
  • India Pale Ale, Strong Ale, Pilsner, Amber Ale - all very roasty beers with deep flavours, always a joy to drink
  • Porter - Black as hell with a very strong bite to it
  • Wheat Beer - Varies - rather fruity occasionally tastes like banana
James Boags Premium Larger - nice light easy drinker
Tooheys Extra Dry - easy drinking
Tooheys Old Black Ale - great dark beer
Coopers Best Extra Stout - stouty goodness
Cascade Premium Draught - quite nice a lil on the sweet side
Cascade Four Seasons - Seasonal Beer, currently winter Warmer which is quite roasty but doesn't have a great deal of bite
Redback Beer - very roasty/smoky flavoured wheat beer highly recomended

Fosters Lager - Shite as far as australian beer goes, though not as offensive as a few others (Victoria Bitter, Southwark Pale, Southwark Bitter, West End Draught)

Belgian
-------
Hoegaarden - Can't go wrong (personal favourite is forbidden fruit)
Leffe Blond & Brune - both very good, the blond has a suprisingly smokey taste
Belle-Vue Kreik - OMG Cherry Beer! tastes great!

Stella Artois - As far as belgian beer goes i find stella to be a disapointment tbh

English/Irish/Anywhere else on ya tiny islands
-------------------------------------------
I'll just leave this as i list of those i enjoy

Double Diamond
Tetley - not sure which
Cafferys Irish Ale
Kilkenny Draught
Guiness Draught
Boddingtons Pub Ale
Newcastle Brown Ale
meh and theres another couple i can't recall the name of

i <3 my beer :D

Babs recommended this to me, I quite liked it but oh my god it got me pissed quick. I like Coors, but unfortunately my favourite beer is Budweiser(the american version), I did try Budvar but didn't like it.
