Ooooh, that hurt bad! Below the belt! I'm crying IRL as we speak. I promise. :D

And yes, Mr Ebay, you go on keeping up the show, we all know your dirty little secrets.

Afraid it is. It ISN'T law to release games on a friday, it just an Industry Standard thats been around for a bloody long time.

Just like cinema releases are always on a friday (except for the 'preview' showings on Thursdays!)

Just like music CDs are released on a monday.

Just like Videos and DVDs are some other day in the week.

Not law, just the way it is.

Beta tested it, nice game, as with all betas its noty ready for release yet tbh so expect a few patches.

Afraid it doesnt have the lastability of games like daoc and uo, big galaxy tho ;)

Mine for a bit, do a quest, kill a few pirates................thats about EvE summed up afraid.

If you like technically configuring stuff youll love EvE, building your ship to your own spec is fun (specially during Armageddon where my Raven roamed the universe wreaking havoc in its wake).

Basically its like the origional Elite with nobs on :)

Will i be buying it?

No.

Getting my copy of the game Wednesday it did come today but I was out.

I am quitting Camelot this month as well.

Mining is only one small part of the game, the game in total is huge. Over 5000 systems on release to explore, a market that is player run. Meaning that price wars can be waged between corperations and you can actualy own shares in the corperations as well.

Then you have your pirates corperations and the bounty hunters who look for them. You got courier missions as well that other players will post up in game. In total this game is completly player driven, so use your imagination and you will get the most fun from it.

Armagedon day was great big battles bits of space ships every where, shooting frigates in a battleship is fun especialy when you one hit kill them with a 1200 mm rail gun :)

If I hadn't stopped the wanker next door to me using my garden as a short cut to get to the pub, It'd have eventually become a public right of way and before long I'd have had bus loads of jap tourists taking pics of my l337 bbq set-up and there'd have been fuck-all I could have done about it! Phew close one eh?

What was this thread about again? :p

I too beta tested it and after my initial joy of how good it looked I soon got bored and stopped playing. Mining is tedious and repetitive, combat is dull... my advice - get Planetside, it rox!

it depends on the ship you're in, i dont have electronics as a skill at all...

jespet is nice but for that id have to get myself some defensive capabilities which would mean less mining lasers, slower income etc... ive found myself a nice 1.0sec system with a belt FULL of omber, and am busy raping it senseless. Works for me :p

Seems ok, without windowed mode though it would rapidly have found itself in my Recycle Bin. I think it'll become more interesting when corp wars take off. At the moment it's just a continual going back and forth from the station to the belt, but then my plan is (as it was in UO) to fund my PK char (as yet uncreated) with money made by my smith, or miner in this case. I'm quite fortunate to have hooked up with Kiarra and joined her corp - DragonStar. She's founded it with a group of people who seem very knowledgeable about the whole thing and have got the whole corp management / manufacturing side of thing licked. They're already planning their market takeovers, undercutting, deciding which systems are best defensively and economically etc. All I have to do is pull in the ore and they supply me with cheap components, and security :) Life is good.

heh yeah thats what im doing i only got into this corp by chance got about 50 beta testers in who all know what there role is so life is good atm but like you im funding my pker atm too heh

It was ok

Once you get passed the noob ship and the mining part the game ain't too bad. Beta just was frustrating because of some annoying bugs earlier on ... skills you trained got reset back to 0 (kinda painfull if it was a cruiser skill you were training from 3 to 4 while in midspace and while in a cruiser) There also was a nasty bug for ships with the capacitators not charging so after a jump you were basicly stuck. Anyhow stopped beta testing after one of the character whipes because I couldn't be arsed to put time in the mining process again only to have it whiped again at gamerelease. So if ppl realise it was a beta and these are things you just have to accept (and report) and that the finnished game has more content the game ain't half bad. I dont know who else of you particiapted in the open beta of Daoc but if you have you must agree that the game gained quite alot of content the past year. Eve will probably evolve too and unlike daoc the game has alot of room for expansion in the endgame. (The endgame being when you have alot of $$ and can think of starting to colonise your own part of space ... building jumpgates, space stations, sentry guns at jumgates charging unfriendly corporations to use em or close acces alltogether so they have to take a detour in space.)
