oh this is just evil :)

EVE Online | EVE Insider | Dev Blog

makes any new person wonder why everyone complains about the train times when they start off, only to start subbing and THEN find out 2 weeks in :)

The hidden downside to the new system that I dont think they addressed yet is that under the old system you had the equivalent of a bunch of free skillbooks - now the new guys will have to start from scratch buying the lot - ouch!

Yeah that is a point - but they will play more to do that and the sand box effect starts sooner. Starting the game with no goals for the first few months other than learning learning skills kills a lot of people's interest. I think doubling the speed of learning is a really smart thing to do and allowing the player to choose what they want really rocks.

IF you know what your doing, yes.

when this go live all they will do is train random skills twice as fast. not necceserily the correct ones.

Very true - the old system ensured you had at least some learning skills done - could cost em in the end...

most likely yes, this game has a steep enough learning curve as it is. and even tho theres no "proper" mistakes to be made while training skills, its fucking annoying to find out u have been training the wrong ones that you have no plans to take advantage of.

So, what do people think so far? I've only had a few mins online after patching last night.

There are already some cracking stories coming out on the forums. A carrier stuck on the wrong side with no prober and various ransomings.

Some guys in my corp went from Providence 0.0 -> w-space -> w-space -> Motsu which sounded pretty cool.

Oh, and 60 days game time for £16.99. Nice.

Just returning to eve myself, with a fresh start on a new char :D i too will be search for a corp willing to hold this played-for-a-while-but-still-a-noob's hand and have some some real fun.

Im glad i have now learnt the major rule of eve, never fly what you cant afford to lose

As my old toon has only 2 mill skillpoints im starting a fresh one with a more how shall we say "directed" skill training and not the "oo that looks shiny ill train that" that i did with my old guy heh

Welcome back then!! I think the expansion looks superb. I spent last night offline and I am in WAR tonight. Give us a shout in the Freddys house in game channel and we can chat.

You can now jump without decloaking.... and when you warp after jumping I am not sure but I don't tend to show up at all - I wonder if you appear on the overview?

Lots of stories of sleepers popping cloaked ships so I'm thinking the wkole thing's a bit borked atm.

It looks like it. I cannot jump manually if I am cloaked but the autopilot lets me jump straight through without decloaking....

I picked this up the other day, like everyone else I've tried out a trial account in the past and ended up horribly confused in a very short amount of time.

This time around the new player experience seems to give you a better grounding for starting the game with the starting tutorial missions, the certificate system is allowing me to put the points where I need them (once I max out the learning skills all to at least lvl 4), after typing a non retarded comment in rookie chat I'm picked up by a small corp and promptly brought into a lvl 4 mission flying anti frig cover for a fleet of 3 BS and 2 Cruisers, this ended out boosting my isk balance nicely.

So far I'm enjoying the amount of depth and the healthy element of risk.

great news!! I hope you find the game develops for you remember everything on the markt that is tech II is player produced. All of that stuff made by plaers - once you see the scale you really start to get drawn in.

Nothing yet on any thing public, I'm sure some of corp forums have some theorycraft up but there's little in the way of confirmed stat's to go on atm, throw in the massive number of possable ship variants and things start to get a little complicated.

Most of the wise old heads of yee old eve throey craft agree that t3 is currently in a pre nerfed state, expect ccp to tinker with the numbers extensivly as we start to see a few of these ships flying about.

Personally I'm guessing the t3 ships will sit somewhere between Battle Cruisers and Battleships but with much greater utility options, ultimatly the main question will be "are they worth the isk?".

Also, weee I have a shiny new Vexor...god it's ugly.
