Update:

You might have noticed that Prydwen is no longer on the server list.

This does NOT mean Prydwen got (or will be) deleted or something. It's just a precaution. We'll be bringing the server up for internal testing soon and we wouldn't want people to accidently connect to it while it's open

Or maybe Marketing said, they dont like the negative publicity of a server being down on a home page for so long.... Its a pity they cant fix the XML for the roll of honour so quickly....

I disagree Film. Time-stamped newsupdates will show the paying customer that GOA are actually doing something. For all we know they could be sitting in a French Cafe eating snales, drinking god awful coffee whilst laughing at the poor Brits waiting for the server to be rebooted.

In reference to the lack of news from GOA and their very poor customer relations (especially this post):

I think it all boils down to that GOA need a forum maintained by themselves for the European DAoC Community. There really seems no other way for them to be able to pass on information if their official site is, to them, only to be used for the important official stuff. I mean, their view of important as the company who runs and maintains it, and my view of a player who has spent the best part of the last 3 years building up characters etc is going to be totally different.

Yeah, something like a 'no more news' post would seem fairly unimportant to them as it isn't really something that would fall into their 'important enough for the news page' catagory, but it is something I really do expect. Yes I'm a member of FH and read it most of the day while I'm at work, but that IS IRRELEVANT. We are not paying FH for a service, but we ARE paying GOA.

The fact that they have all this triple checking thing for news posts I can totally understand as I have to do a very similar process at my place of work, and I really appriciate the posts made by Xalin in keeping us informed with what is going on, even if he has very little to report. But the GOA site IS the first point of call for the European DAoC community. Its the only official site for our European DAoC community, and their total lack of keeping users informed of even the little things really angers me as a paying cumstomer.

Going back to the forum idea: After having a look on the Blizzard site for WoW it is really making me rethink the 3+ years I've invested in DAoC. I enjoy the game, infact no, I love the game, but at best, GOA don't really seem to have any idea of keeping customers happy. If they ran an official forum in a similar way to Blizzard there would be places for patch notes (future and past), bug reports, server/realm discussion, class discussion, raid and GOA event plans, an ideas board, and most importantly they could keep the customer informed about every little thing and give the impression that they do work, instead of saying that they do and showing little or no evidence. And through the forum they could all hide under the giese of 'posts belonging to the poster and not GOA blah blah'. They could even keep their official news page for the important triple checked stuff.

And possibly the best thing for them is that it would pretty much be self maintaining. All they need to do is find a few good people to moderate it for them, and give the GMs some high level access and the whole thing would fall into place.

(I'm extremely sorry for people who this post might offend with my ideas, but I felt that I had to get my view across. I really appriciate the work that the GMs (especially Xalin) have been putting in to keeping us informed through a channel, be it official or not. Its just GOA makes me so mad when you compare them to other online gaming companies as they seem to be one of the worst )
