Well of course, but it's not really happily married couples that this is aimed at I don't think.
I do find it genuinely concerning with the conflicting ideals that are shoved down young girls' throats with all the dieting nonsense alongside a society that celebrates overweight, unhealthy women because that "curvy" look is more attainable for the 'gimme now' generation that knows nothing about doing anything for themselves or working hard for something (such as staying in shape).

Face it, the whole 'curvy' revolution in public opinion is just to make fatties feel better. It was never this way until a few years ago. It's just a trend.
No one said over size 4 is chubby chasing, we are talking like Size 14+ here. The point was made was that size 4 is too small and not curvy but Size 14 is curvy ....Yet you're talking about BMI, the latest fitness craze sweeping the world
Fat people were very popular back in the day, not that far back even, as it showed wealth and also the ability to provide for children. It's a new trend that skinny is better and THAT is the delusion you've bought into.
On the matter of telling the doctor, everyone is different and if you're happy and live 50 years, or unhappy eating carrots for 70, it's your choice.
Supporting freedom to live as you want is not supporting fat people, it's supporting all styles of life. The notion that you're chubby chase if you don't like size 4 and only size 4 is preposterous.
eksdee said:My girlfriend is a size 6. She's not underweight according to her BMI? Since when were we talking about being underweight? A woman I work with is a size 12 and she is overweight according to her BMI (she loves telling me about her latest diet craze).

GimmlyThe3rd said:And imo BMI is accurate for joe average, the only people that protest this is fat people. Bodybuilders, people that lift and athletes don't take much notice because they're not joe average.
i'm not pro fat. I'm simply not judgemental.
Either way, in all honesty you're right that everyone is different and happiness should be paramount. I honestly couldn't care less what type of women others choose as their partners, but it annoys the fuck out of me when said people think it's okay to villify 'skinny' women as having "no curves" when it's absolutely incorrect.
Size 0 is not always skinny, can simply be genetics (asian etc) that you have a tiny waist. We are not talking about people like celebs that go on hunger strikes to be size 0 and get put in heat mag.How long is never? The idea that people look healthy when they are skinny is a modern concept. Women store fat for very obvious reasons. Being "size zero" is not a natural or healthy state.
I have seen many tragic situations where women and men have felt so pressured into achieving this golden figure that the media would have us think is so healthy that it has cost them everything, including in some cases their lives.
I would hope if you were talking about your own child rather than a "potential shag", you would rather they be happy with who they are rather than what society tells them they should or shouldn't be.
Than why protest it? Joe average simply does not have enough muscle mass with out lifting weights regularly to make the BMI inaccurate. Scientifically proven.I protest it, and I'm not "fat". Perhaps you have it wrong and everyone else is talking common sense?

If you think that people vilifying skinny people is wrong, you shouldn't be using words like "whale" to describe someone who is not even in an overweight category.
when was 4kgs less she looked better and was a healthier.
They started it.
Edit: and, in all seriousness, I thought it was painfully obvious that 90% of this thread was tongue in cheek.
Well, that's just common sense up to a certain point isn't it? no ones slim with 45" waist.Oh you must be such a charmer
Again, hypocrisy has to be pointed out;
You say not all size X are Y, yet use the same size measure to say "all 10+ are whales".
If you get into it, then you're as responsible as those who started it
Thing is, i don't think 90% of the thread is tongue in cheek and some rather honest opinions have been put forward. Which, well, sometimes you learn things you'd rather not of people.
