That's good news. What router are you using? I'm intending to buy a Netgear DG814 and want to be sure it will work with DAoC.

NAT, whether Hardware or Software, shouldn't cause any problems with playing DAoC.
Use an ADSL router myself, have had no problems beside the router hanging, which is probably due to overuse

Hell, I run DAOC on 2 PCs through a LAN which uses a Linux machine as a router I don't see why you should have any problems using a little box-o tricks instead

Is it possible to play on either machine on the lan, either separately, on one machine one day and on the other the next, or together - both at the same time??

I run 2 copies of DAOC on my LAN. You need 2 accounts though. My wife's got her own account
So in short the answer is yes. IF you have 2 accounts.

I'm using a Samsung router (I think it's based on the conexant chipset). Nothing special about it, it just works. The Netgear should be fine.

No I didn't buy a Netgear 814 - or anything else - still saving up.
It seems like the 814 is an excellent plug and go router for straightforward use - but doesn't have a command line interface do more sophisticated set-ups. There are apparently also some problems with current versions of firmware, and it doesn't have UPnP. If I was buying now I'd tend to go for the Speedtouch 510 v4 which does seem to combine simple setup with greater flexibility. But i'm no expert - see the excellent reviews and discusion at www.adslguide.org.uk
