Crazy how much it costs us to remove them though, why don't we just shoot them all and be done with it?

Government should pass a law forcing taxation upon them, if they don't like it, they should fuck off - traditional gypsies I haven't a problem with (There's a couple around still believe it or not) but not these ones who purposely tax-evade, and simply do not give a fuck about society.

EDIT-

It's a Government conspiracy actually, they're purposely doing this, so they don't have to lay off more coppers, it's a way of moving the economy! :O

Rent for what? They own the land.

That's not to say they shouldn't adhere to planning rules, like the rest of us have to. ofc some of them are pulling the race card out. OMG its because we are gypos! No, it's because you think you are above the law. Now fuck and you know, travel.

And the homeless comments. They won't be homeless but they might have to sleep in their top of the range mercs for a few nights.

I really try to be all PC and stuff, but "Travellers" boil my piss. It all comes down to, "our 'culture' says we don't have to obey your laws". Well fuck you and the piebald horse you rode in on bareback. If anyone else built an eyesore like Dale Farm without planning permission, it would already have been pulled down, end of story.

There are times when I've read about examples of discrimination against individual Travellers (there was a story about not letting Traveller kids into a school here recently for example), and I start to develop some sympathy for them; then I drive past the two rubbish-strewn hellholes they live in near me and lose it all again.

*edit* LOL. The Daily Mash said it better than I did.

...they don't seem to be very good at travelling

Apparently it was the police that breached the peace, when they tried to get around that caravan that the travellers set on fire in the gateway. They'll need that caravan for travelling, won't they?

Its the hangers on that get me. The travellers & police so far have been pretty true to form...but all the third party activists / liberals / anarchists / tree-huggers who have nothing to do with the affair latching on to a hopeless & indefensible cause sticking their noses in. They interviewed one on the radio this morning & Nick Ferrari basically tore her arguments apart with ease.

Yeh but the tree-huggers are mostly idiots anyways, annoying is the main thing they are. Wouldn't mind taking a bat too a few of them.

Aye. One of them had chained herself to some scaffolding & she was telling the copper "if you don't hit me then I won't hit you" LOL. You could just imagine the old bill itching to whack the silly cow with his night-stick just to shut her up

Rent for what? They own the land.

From the reading I did, as far as I can tell only a couple of the houses are on land that has been bought, I don't think they own the whole site?

Might be wrong.

I love how the Guardian's article waxes lyrical about the supposed police brutality, but says nothing about the missiles being lobbed at the police, missiles which are clearly visible on the news reports.

LOL at getting them to a meeting at the gate, while the riot cops burst in around the back..oh the irony.

Stupid anti social fucknuts, shit themselves when someone they can't intimidate fights back, no old ladies with missing slates here Mr Pikey, just a riot cop with a big stick.

I've not been following it closely and was basically saying the same as you till me sister told me that they own the whole land and have planning permission for half the site but not the other half and so its only some of the houses getting destroyed.

Now i've not verified that but if its the case it seems a bit much. While people should respect planning laws etc etc here we have some people that own land legally and have built homes - if they weren't travellers would it have gotton this bad?

Yes, if they weren't travellers the council would have been able to destroy the illegal buildings long ago.

They didn't have permission to build roads, there isnt proper drainage get em out. And I agree with an above comment they should have just started heating the scaffold up and taking bets on when it would topple!

Building roads is usually a stipulated requirement of any planning permission for developments like this.

While it may be that the travellers were un co-operative or down right refused to engage with the council a part of me can't shake the suspicion if this was Joe Bloggs building a cheeky extra couple of houses in his back garden they would have approved retrospective planning permission subject to certain clauses.

Pikeys or Tinkers as we call them here in Ireland are a nusance all they do is steal and move stolen goods and drugs around in the brand new vans even though they claim full benifits for their whole lives, fuck em get a job like the rest of us do and either become a part of the society who pays for your lives or move on.

A guy in the same village had his conservatory torn down by the council for not getting plsnning pernission. They did that in a matter of months not 10 Fucking years.
