Crafting a masterpiece - this is weird o_O

Okay..

So i get this qua 99 drum/flute order.. "np" i say, and run to beno to quickly handle that little order.. shouldn't be that hard.

First drum: Qua 99 first try.. yay! I may even earn some cash now!

Then the hell started...

I made about 40 (no i don't joke) flutes, not even ONE hit qua 99, all was between/or 94 and 98, and atlast i hit a masterpiece.

94 95 96 97 98 99.. that's 6 quality-lvls i hit ever time..

Time = 100%

100/6 = 16.6667%

What are the chances i don't hit a qua 99? .. very low..

It must be a bug or something :/

I've tried before.. when i fail alot or make low qua many times in a row.. i hit masterpiece short after.. i can even tell when it's comming..
Why? Is this a bug?

how do you know they are random? Thats the thing with random numbers.... you can never tell.

Sadly its not a bug, and that sort of run without a 99% item is perfectly possible - and only to be expected from time to time.

Expect a thread full of useless posts from people who know just enough about pseudo-random number theory to be dangerous

Yeh, I once got an order for a 99% heartwood staff, the staff itself cost less than 20g or something, can't remember. But the total sum came to more than 350g iirc. Ended up with me taking the loss since I hadn't asked for a max # of retries. Oh well..

At the Ludlow bazar I crafted SIX!!! masterpieces in 1 hour.
Was psychedelic.
3 drums, 1 flute, 2 heavy longbows and a 13 dps longbow.
Now THAT was a good profit.

I was the first thing I crafted tha day, but what on earth doe i need MP-ironwire for?

Happends to all crafters mate. I´ve had some luck but i have also been very unlucky. Example: A friend orderd full MP cloth set, so i said ok... ill try to make it quick ^^ about 2 hours later i had the set rdy and it cost me approx 900G to make. So i gave him set and sold my own set to another peep to be able to continue to skill, thought to myself (pfft i can make another set in no time)

GOD I WAS SO WRONG.

When i was trying to get another MP set for myself, i made all parts except robe for 2+plat (was very unlucky with pants, those took me like 60+ retrys)

then the robe left, expensive as hell to make, compared to the other parts (yeye still cheap compared to other tradeskills) but fkking hell after 6PLAT yes!! 6plat wasted on a freaking robe i got that MP robe i was very happy it was all over. so about 8plat wasted on that set..... i even stopped crafting in ludlow cause i was paranoid, thought it was a cursed place -> went excal instead.

I know what you feel exactly..

I normally salvage a helm after a Masterpiece .. make sure i make about 50 hinges without any of them are masterpieces.. then i start making masterpiece staff/instrument/bow/whatever.

I even tried relogging

just a little add.

after that mp robe was made... i made 2x mp robes, 1x sleeves, 1x pants... very very fast... so i was very happy at that moment.

but while getting the first mp robe, and see plat after plat wasted for nothing was worse then getting gangbanged in jail (note: never happend to me)

What you guys are getting is statistically sound I believe, but if you really want to check.. preform binomial test (so 94% or not 94%) and check wheter it fits the hypothesis of getting it 1/6th of the time.
