I'm not sure. I think I'm increasingly angry, if you judge by my posts. But when the fucking pubs open again I'll be tickety-boo.

Married life treating you well then I see. Taken any pics recently, or have you become fat and lazy now you're happy?

I've dipped in and out of threads over the months for a read, I do enjoy the discussions and I see Job gets all his info from the comments section of the Daily Mail as usual.

Married life is grand but not much different, wouldn't do it again mind you. Been doing as much photography as I can given the circumstances (I had a grand 2020 plan that got the arse knocked out of it as you can imagine) although I've managed to get a few "within the rules" wild camps done in remote wilderness locations. I gotta say, being away from the world and being alone is incredibly soothing for the soul.

Very disapointed that teachers aren't in the first phase. Seeing as they have no option but to be in a room full of snotty kids.

I mean its technically true, even though they were not supposed to get that authority until 1st of Jan under withdrawal agreement, but dont think it will change much

It's not technically true. Everyone has the ability to fast-track an emergency vaccine under EU regs.

I don't think anyone was laughing at Trump for saying "it was China". We all know it came from China, and they probably didn't handle it that well. What people were laughing at was him effectively blaming China for how badly he was dealing with the situation in the USA.

I more meant his rant about Biden and the orange faced baboon

Oh yeah ignore that - but worth reading the article itself. Just don't expect anything in there to be remotely surprising.

I appreciate some of you have a lust for the vaccine and a hated for the EU but when the EMA are not rattifying the vaccine - I would not have it... specifically as it was Finland & Sweden who found the issues with Pandremix. Sweden have stated no vaccine to the start of next year and in the mean time keep up the recommendations.

The EU criticizes British vaccine approval

The European Union criticized Britain's swift approval of Pfizer / Biontech's covid vaccine on Wednesday. The EU believes that the Union's procedure is more thorough. Britain became the first western country to approve a vaccine.

Granting an emergency permit for the Pfizer / Biontech vaccine has been seen by many as a politically motivated decision by the British Prime Minister Boris Johnson, who has led the country out of the EU and been criticized for its handling of the pandemic.

The decision was made during a rapid emergency approval process, which allowed the UK Medicines Agency to temporarily approve the vaccine only ten days after it began examining data from large-scale trials.

In an unusually critical statement, the European Medicines Agency (EMA), which is responsible for approving covid-19 vaccines for the EU, said its longer authorization procedure is more appropriate as it is based on more evidence and requires more controls than the UK emergency procedure.

I was just about to post that.
I cant fucking believe this is somehow being portrayed as a race.

The whole thing is just an ongoing farce, media as usual are fucking everything up with baseless jingoism when no one even thought about it that way and the EU seriously need to reel their necks in while were trying to get people to trust it.
What exactly will 2 weeks of further arse scratching help when everyones rushing it through.

I certainly have neither. It would damage confidence in vaccination programmes more widely if we were pushing unsafe vaccines out and that is extremely undesireable.

Lots to admire about the EU. I don't see what the EU has to do with it really - I don't really see it as a race - the EU's approval body is obviously going to be slower because it has more members to work through but eventually they'll come to the same decision and off the same data. No?

specifically as it was Finland & Sweden who found the issues with Pandremix.
I sent you a PM on Pandremix but you ignored it.

I share your dislike for the fact that there was a very small (but significant enough to withdraw because of it's seriousness) chance of side effect with one of the several drugs approved to treat that virus.

It was right to withdraw it despite that fact that, on balance, it did more good than harm (in absolute numbers on recipients only). We do not tolerate side effects in vaccinations for obvious reasons - one of them being that people remember and refer to them, and it slows uptake in perfectly safe vaccines (which are the vast majority).

Vaccines not only *must* be safe - they also need to be seen as safe.

We know the risk from corona, we know how many it is killing. It's a problem that is being realised right now in the form of significant numbers of deaths and very serious, potentially lifelong, consequences in many it doesn't kill.

Finally, vaccination is, and should remain, voluntary.

People are treated like adults and given the option to refuse the vaccine. That choice comes with knock-on consequences to wider society, but it is correct that we don't enforce mandatory vaccination.

So, if you would't take it because you feel the risk of unforseen pandemrix-like consequences are too large then that's your perogative and I, personally, would defend your right to make tgat decision for yourself.

However, I'd strongly urge you to consider changing your mind as I think you would be making a mistake, based on how you're assessing the relative risks.

Is it the media's fault, or should the government just have waited until the EU approved it as well. If you had 30 countries coming out and giving it the OK at the same time, it would surely breed more confidence than just 1 country doing it.

Well one things for sure, looks like our elderly are the guinea pigs for the western world.

It would be interesting if after two weeks of rollout the EU medical board rejects it as unsafe.
Highly unlikely...but hilarious.

Its a win win for the UK, we get it early and it cements our brand of independent and getting things done with a hint taking risk..unless of course they fuck up the rollout....
