So first time out for me after being a bit poorly. Life here is very civilised - supermarket is quiet for a Friday and people really trying to be distant. I also went to the nail salon to have my nails cut off 
as it could be a matter of time before everything shuts down and if they break it could not only wreck them but is terribly painful. Now I am sitting in the Greek - doing my bit to keep the small businesses in business. The restaurant has people eating but there is c. 20 meters between them dotted with people like me... so may be 5 groups. They appear to be doing a massive take away business however which is super cool as their food is superb!

yes I did have to go as I have hardner on that needs to be professionally removed - it should have been done a few weeks ago but I was symptomatic so stayed in.
I (unlike most of you) do not live in a country where you are only permitted to go outside for essential goods @Deebs so your question is irrelevant. Although for the last two or more weeks I have not been out and have had all essential items delivered only leaving the house not two days but 5 after symptoms subsided.
I live in a country where we have been asked not to travel away from home ie to another county - I have not done this.
We have also been asked not to use public transport unless necessary - I have not done this and for weeks (even before the UK) I have not allowed my employees to come in to work if that is their only way - leaving it free for essential workers.
We have been asked not to go out if even slightly under the weather - I have done this and ensured my entire department complied.
Businesses have been asked to ensure that there is enough space to work everywhere I have been today has been in line with government requirements.
We are asked to wash our hands frequently - I washed my hands before I left home, again when I arrived my hands when I arrived. Nail techs in Sweden wear gloves that they change between customers so they did not touch me for the entire process and there was plenty of distance between our heads. After the process I washed my hands again before leaving and going to do the rest of the shopping.
Once I got to the supermarket I used disinfectant on my hands and then did the food shop.
I continued to the restaurant ordered food spritzed again and waited.
I have enough food in the house for the next two weeks at least so I will probably not leave except to go to work with a colleague next Tuesday.
How often are you leaving the house for food or work. Is everything you are purchasing 100% essential - what is essential - where are you drawing the line? Are you buying booze? Fags? Any food stuffs that are not bog standard? Do you combine trips outside of the house or are you going out once to exercise / once for the food shop once to take stuff for a relative ?

This is where capitalism breaks down, or works as intended, depending on your point of view. In the wake of this crisis, I can see a lot of countries either maintaining a much larger stockpile of essential medical equipment, or ensuring that their suppliers are native and can be commandeered in the event of another pandemic. Americans can pay cash up front because they are corporations buying for their own hospitals, rather than tax funded entities.
If it continues, I can also see countries like France and Germany ramping up the tax bills for American companies like Google and Facebook, who make hundreds of millions locally but pay no / little tax outside the US, but when shit hits the fan, the taxes paid to uncle Sam are used to adversely impact them. I can see why they would be upset, it's simply not cricket.
China did something similar too. My colleague is from Hong Kong, and he was getting relatives from there to ship him masks to the USA. Masks and medical equipment sent via regular post was being intercepted at customs and confiscated by the mainland government. Using FedEx bypassed the confiscation and he got us all masks.

Naaaaah! Still not really explaining the whole "holding hands with a stranger while she uses tools on my bare hands kind of makes social distancing physically impossible" thing. What's most surprising is that a nail bar is open at all.

Well
1) She is far from a stranger as I see her every 2 weeks and have done for the last 6 years....
2) my hands are washed and disinfected and she is wearing gloves so there is no issue according to expert guidlines
3) I have not ever had my nails done in the UK but you describe it like something from a medieval jousting tournament so I guess they are not using the most modern of techniques. Here your fingers are covered in foil and a checmical to soak off the hardner and when you take off the foil the hardner is removed with very liitle extra work
4) as I have repeatedly posted nothing is closed in Sweden at this time although it is believed they may shut shopping centres in the coming weeks.
In the last 3 weeks I have left the apartment once how many times have you left the house and was every time you left the house for esssential items - basic food or medication? If you want to be hollier than thou getting alcohol or your favorite cheese or good steak is not really essential is it or leaving the house more than once per day for that matter, in fact leaving the house for exercise is not essential either if you have a garden or a balcony where do you want to draw the line OR is the line YOUR government guidelines?
Have a lovely afternoon - weather here is really sunny so I will probably run a bit more on the balcony later

@Yoni - I get it - your government guidelines say it's a-OK.
However, you're being wilful in ignoring the obvious point - that having someone in very close proximity isn't "social distancing" by any stretch of the imagination.
So instead of being obtuse, why not go "sucks to be you in the UK, I'll follow our guidelines - you follow yours" or something like that - instead of getting your knickers in a twist and calling people "holier than though".
Although, given close proximity (not physical contact) is a vector, I still think you're daft to go get your bloody nails done. But hey ho.

My point is is that I had to go and have them removed sorry if that upsets a few of you and it was done in the best way possible.
My second point was when Italy started to lock down 3 weeks ago most people on this forum were still going about business in the normal way - yes we were all talking about it but you were still doing what you do. When Callous and Yuck both commented on their new situation we all listened but none of you actually followed personally what was happening in Spain or France some of you were still going to the pub and I beleive that a few of you are still smokers which is just unthinkable right now - I think that Deebs stated that he had requested JFH a week before Bozza stated it should be done. So my point remains - I HAD to have the hardner removed (nasty things can happen if it is not done properly and I would rather not put pressure on a health system with a bacterial infection etc). I ensured that I did it when I was well (rather than my original appointment I was symptomatic) so not spreading my germs around anymore than those of you out running on your daily exercise session. For some of you there is no self-reflection at all that doesnt necessarily surprise me but disappoints me more than a little.
As a reminder I have been in isolation and I have only left the house once I do not beleive this is the case for the rest of you so please reflect a little before you start judging others.
