Just out of interest are there any of you doing this alone? If so how are you coping (no dodgy comments)? I have a couple of employees who are on their own and from a mental health point of view they are deteriorating even though they can go out freely for walks still in Sweden. If anyone is on their own a lot then you are very welcome even if it is short term to join my wow guild - it is possible as a social player and I would only be too happy for you to pop on or on to comms for a chat.

I am. I stay sane by going for a walk each day and then speaking to my family, and then my work colleagues. I am used to it, been this way sine 2016.

Me too but a little after 2016.

I do still go and visit the kids or they come to me. apparently that is allowed within the rules.

Being high risk I actually started working almost exclusively from home when Chevron at Canary Wharf first sent staff home at the start of march, so I am sort of over 6 weeks into this. I have diagnosed mental health issues and yes, frankly, it has been a bit of a struggle a few times. I think I am lucky though, as I am fully aware of how I feel day to day and I am used to 'off days' occasionally - I am also comfortable that my employers seem to have a very positive HR setup to understand those in my situation and give guidance to managers.

It does concern me that many others in a similar position will not be anywhere near as lucky as me - I can fully work from home and we are all needed (financial markets are still operating, so the information my company provides is essential) so I am still on full pay, I have had my diagnosis for many years so I am used to it and I am lucky to work in a team where we really back one another up. If I am not great one day I know colleague will take up the slack a bit and vice versa.

Your offer is generous of a guild membership for a short period, and although I won't be taking it up (I don't game much at all these days, sometimes driving games) as I am sure you'll be relieved.... 'Jadar!!!!' was as bad as Leroy... I know what a good sport to play with you are and I am sure you have a great collective, so others should take a look if they are tempted!

God I wish I was on my own :(

Well if you've got time on your hands now would be an ideal time to build a man cave in the garden or garage. Assuming you have a garden or garage. I'm not alone, but it's nice to have some me time. I've spent the last few days in the garage kitting it out as a workshop. Now all I need is to be able to get materials so I can build some shit!

Honestly the peace and quiet in central London makes for a nice change of pace. Going from my local streets constantly filled with a few thousand people and cars to seeing one, maybe two, of either during the walk to M&S is unusual and refreshing. Talking of refreshing the drop in pollution levels is extremely noticeable. Even the pigeons look healthier! (Though the council have stopped the cleaning crews so the pavements are now covered in bird shit)

I may be stuck in my flat alone for the rest of the time but I can do a remote contract IT work if I need to and along with being accepted for the Open University so doing online catch-up courses keeps me occupied. And of course Netflix and Amazon Prime help with constant streaming on a second screen.

i am on my own, my apartment is tiny, with no direct sunlight. I am usually quite happy being locked up and playing video games most of the time, but it can be a bit of a struggle. I am on WhatsApp with the girlfriend, friends and family almost every day. The biggest issue I have is staying motivated for work, the days are long and never ending, with the usual breaks (going to work, getting lunch, going home) no longer present, it gets very tiring. My boss told us today, that we need to work out a rotation in my team (3 people), so we get a one hour break in the middle of each day, where we log off and do something non work related (unless there's an emergency). So I'm planning on turning my coat hanger back to its original purpose (exercise bike) and watching some scenic videos (with a different sound track) like this one:

I bet it's amazing in the city.

I've been out the last two days on some long MTB rides. Most of it's offroad but I've had to cross or traverse a bit of the A5 - which at this time of year is a busy road.

One car passed us each day. Astonishing (and utterly transformative in terms of how roads are to ride on). But each time, because of obviously significantly lower pollution levels, the exhaust fumes were greasy and horrendous. I mean really really unpleasantly noticeable and long lasting.

It's astonishing how much you notice it when it's not there. I've always hated car fumes anyway but this has taken it to another level.

The sooner they ban petrol and diesel engines for personal transport the better.

I went for a doctors checkup last year and she said the average life expectancy for the ~7000 people who live in the City of London is two years less than the national average purely because of the pollution. So you could say this virus is actually making me live longer!

I lived on my own for 6 glorious years. Great times.

Gaming in my pants. Wanking in the living room. Stella can for breakfast. Smoking in bed. Waking up in the early evening.

I could do with some of that.

Not been on here in god knows how many years. Hello.

Furloughed with family, i too would kill for some alone time. I probably wouldn't say that after a week of such a pleasure, but I'd certainly make the most of it.

Considering we've not recruited testers and recruited and trained contact testers, it's difficult to see how we can envision any relaxation of the rules without it being a monumental clusterfuck.

Sweden look to be ramping up - I understand they've just passed a load of laws allowing them to restrict gatherings/close businesses etc. in response to looking pretty stupid next to their neighbours in terms of deaths. (Like ten times the death rate of Finland, apparently).

In other news it looks like our fuck-up of a government might be about to recruit and train an army of contact-tracers and testers, which would bring us in line with the WHO's original directive to "test, test, test".

Who'd have thunk that the organisation formed (in part) to direct global responses to pandemics would be doling out the exact correct advice - only for idiot governments to ignore/de-fund them.

I've lived alone for years but the biggest 'thing' is the choice being taken away. Here (Marbella, Spain) we're not allowed to go for walks. Not even allowed to go to the communal areas (gardens, pool etc.). It was tough the first two weeks but then I've now kinda gotten used to it. It sucks not being able to go to the gym (I have no motivation to work out / don't enjoy working out at home) and not being able to go eat where I want but once I accepted it mentally it's been easier.

Pets are a very common thing here and taking your dog for a walk is restricted to the immediate vicinity of your home unless you already live in the countryside where the rules are more flexible. Only one person per household is allowed to go to do the food shopping and cars carrying more than one person are stopped and questioned.

There are static and mobile police roadblocks around the area and people seem to be adhering to the rules so far. Then again, over here we're far from the chaos that is Madrid and Barcelona with the former being crazy still.

I expect it to start getting violent once money runs out for a lot of people that generally live hand to mouth. Once that survival mechanism kicks in I really doubt police roadblocks will be enough. The people here are trying to keep spirits up - I'm sure you've seen some of the videos filmed from balconies and the police do their part with the flashing light displays and car horn honking at 8pm in the different towns.

Some of the supermarkets here had designated certain hours exclusively for the seniors so they can take their time shopping but this seemed only to last for the initial rush where things were flying off the shelves. Right now there are shortages of certain things (the chicken supply chain seems to have been noticeably hit) but now just over a month in the supermarket stocks seem the same as pre-quarantine except that there are less people around doing their shop. Maybe it's because I go at a time when the majority would be sat down for lunch(?). Dunno.

I could be knocking out epic levels of wanks if I didn't have the family in the house tbh. All these jokey articles about how wanking has reached record levels under lockdown are depressing. I'm actually getting fewer in now. Even when the kids have been warned to keep out when Daddy is on a call work/business colleagues on Hangouts/Zoom get suspicious when my shoulder is moving and my eyes go crossed :(

We've been OK for chicken, but I've not seen a firelighter since this thing started
Shopping during siesta is always the quietest time, we've done that since we arrived.
