As long as it is after sunday i dont care
After next weekend for me.

Got two barrels of beer from the local brewery ordered, 10 of us having a mountain biking and beer weekend round my gaff.

Rule of six doesn't apply outside in Wales - and people will have campers and tents. So win :)

The UK is the first country that Sweden has refused change the travel ban for even though it will be ok for people to travel from Sweden to the UK.... A decision will be made later in September in Sweden and I think they will will not open.

Lots and lots of countries screwed up at the start however the UK continues to look like a bunch of idiots to the rest of Europe.

I talk to many people round the world and they all say that there are issues with numbers wanting the tests against the availability. Maybe not to the scale. But every country is finding its way here. Its an unknown. Even now we are in uncharted waters. The number of people without symptoms asking for tests is the issue. And from the organisations pushing them to take them before they are allowed back.

without a million tests per day or something like that we wont have enough.

its not just the gov. but also the people who need to take responsibility for the selves. I mean flooding a&e for a non symptomatic to have a covid test is ridiculous no?

The problem with the government is the answer to the current failure/problem results in them advertising the next one to try and avoid answering the important questions.

It is clear that no country knows the answer however the UK is repeating its mistakes this is inexcusable. The UK government have had time to put good procedures in to effect and they should have been very aware that going back to university there is normally "fresher flu" which has the same / simlar symptoms to CV19 so it would be normal to have an increasing in testing. I think that some of the excuses being made are exactly the same as in March / April - issues encountered at the start of the pandemic should be more under control however it feels less so. As for citizens not being responsible - I am not sure that this is just a UK issue this is an issue in all countries (look at the additional problems caused by idiot citizens in Denmark for example) - this issue in the UK is the apparent lack of clarity from those everyone is mean to follow....

Interesting, but I'd love to know what that actually says.
Maybe that there are more testing stations in those areas. Or there are less asking for a test in those areas. Cant think of another reason

I expect a lockdown by the weekend, but not a real lockdown, just a ban on socialising. A bit like the local lockdowns that are currently being implemented.

If they give announce it by tomorrow night, then fine.

Zero notice isn't acceptable. But I can see that Bojo threw the scientists up there on the press conference so we can all get together and go "scientists said this" - and come to "we need to lock down" on our own.

It's spineless lack of leadership. Make your decisions, then come tell the public as soon as you possibly can. You're fucking about with people's lives here you tory cunt.

Hang on, when I said it was a bit harsh when there was zero notice for people that are abroad, you defended it?

This seems really weird to me.

You have control and profits whilst you have good times, when it's bad times, don't worry about it, we'll bail you out.

This is what capitalism is all about.

Privatise the games, socialise the losses.

How do you think the financial crash worked out? What happened to the wealth of the mega rich? Has that pattern been repeated historically?

I think tomorrow we will be informed on a mini lockdown, not sure there is much else we can do seeing as the testing and the track'n'tracing have collapsed.

The shit show continues.

Yeah. Hope it doesn't include people outside in Wales or I'll have to cancel my beer order ;)

I think it was good that there were no political idiots there. In sweden we have not had press conferences with politicians there just thet scientists and it works well. I do think that it is a bit late for the UK to move to this way of communicating - it brings up comments that can be seen above rather than the information that this is from a scientific independent point of view.

Was watching the below excellent interview with Tegnell earlier:

Can we borrow him for a month or two? Seems to have a better handle on things than all the muppets on SAGE put together.

@Scouse who is all about the science disliking scientists broadcasting without the politicians. Of course it doesn’t go with the message you like so. We all know its a strategic choice to put them out alone. To me its trying to get the science across so people take it seriously. Without an obvious political message.
make people say oh science says. Not oh the Tories say so i will go party.

i think its quite clever to try and remove the party lines on what isnt a party issue.

I get the reasoning behind it @Moriath.

I just find the change of tack a bit spineless given how they've been earlier.

Do you prefer it? I think its hpw they should have done it in the first place and not put muzzles on the scientists to tow the party line.

Not putting muzzles on them by preventing them from taking questions, you mean?

The scientists should have been leading on the realities but they're only leaving then to it now so if there's another lockdown they can go "wasn't us, blame beaker over there"

no. I think not having to answer questions and just presenting the truth as they see it was a good thing .. questions muddy the water. In this case.
