One disadvantage of the classic server is that only complete teams will go there. They'll have their groups thought out in advantage, run through darkspire two dozen times to get their gear and go RVR.

From that point onwards RVR will be exactly the same as on the normal servers. If you can't get a group now, you won't be able to get one then. It'll just be GG's running around looking for each other, and ganking everyone else they run into along the way.

You won't have Darkspire gear, or capped out gear, so you'll die just as fast as you do now. 'Classic' while something different, is not something new. It certainly isn't anything revolutionary.

i think the first weeks will see a decline on all server pop to the classic server, but it will blow over in a month or 2. i doubt that who have 2 or 3 fully temped charrs on normal servers will just throw away their charrs. some will.

I realy like nice raids and toa, so classic servers won't be my favorite, but since it will be anouther english server, and a place to go when prydwen / excal has LOOONG downtime, I will try to make some characters on them as a backup plan. Won't invest much time in them

What's the betting that the English-language "Classic" (gah, it's NOT "Classic", it's "no TOA") server will be on the same hamster wheel as the other UK servers?

So the English-language one will be down just as much as Excal/Prydwen are these days, while the German one will of course be up 24/7.

Who knows, but I hope even if it will be down just as often as prydwen and excal, it will be down because of problems at different times. But I think, since there is no *french* classic server, and most french players would prefer english over german (hey, they have to learn it anyway, and any language you speak is better than one you don't speak) I think english classic server will be a bit more stable

Classic will be more or less redundant after 1.81b.....IMO ofc

As igli states above, no reason to play at the classic server after 1.81, toa becomes easy, and on classic servers... you will have to invest enourmeus amount of time farming that catacomb dungeon I forgot the name off.

you can still make templates that are close to toa standard, and thous have to spend same time getting it.

here is an example of my bm's template on US lamorak, which for your information died out pretty fast, got tired of the constant zerging at the new island.

The impression I get is a lot of the long time/hardcore players on excal/pryd who have a lot invested in their characters on those servers and happily ToA away, don't want to see the server population thinned by people going off to another server and enjoying themselves.

no matter what, new servers wont bring as many new players, or old ones back, to get the same level of population on all the servers, new servers will eventually drop to about 1k pop, as they did in US, and then we have just spreaded the players even more, having even fewer on the different servers, it saddens me.

I can understand that. It would be great if DAoC in Europe returned to its population of the "glory days" whenever they were.

Sad as it may be. Its not a compelling argument for not playing on the new classic servers.

Hey d00d , long time no see =).

Got one of my GM's giving out to me cuz i'm gona go mid on the classic server.

But it's the one realm i haven't been able to play propper ( PvP doesn't count).
So that's where i'm going , as for what class i'm not sure yet.

Either a SM , Savage or a Skald ... still trying to decided.

I came (at least will) come back to DAoC to try the classic servers. I look forward to playing with friends again after battling them for a short while in WoW (which should be renamed WoG.. World of Grinding).
