I'd just like to post these figures from www.duskwave.com and hope to dispel a few pre-conceptions people have about certain classes (e.g. everyone's deleted their clerics and are now playing infiltrators).

ah bugger, I'm clearly playing the most overpowered hib class of all from that hehe, I account for more than 1/8 of all the rps for my class go meh!!

seriously tho, those statistics are even less meaning full than most are from the point of view of your arguement.. the nerfs to clerics are too recent to have an effect on those stats which have been acumulated over 6~ months

however you are right that people who view one class or another as gimped are insane, any class played well can be good in rvr, not *every* class can be good 1 vs 1, but the focus of the game isn't being solo all the time...

they are as you put it the "top albion class" in terms of total rps because: there are more of them than any other class, *and* they have the highest average lvl of any albs.. these too factors mean that there is more high lvl clerics than there is any other class in alb, and as we all know, more high lvls == more rps..

more interesting I think is that hibernia's top class, has less people playing them than the 2nd (heros) and has a lower average level, this is a definite indication that in rvr champs > heros, and champs > druids (nearly same number of people, champs lower ave lvl again tho) and so on for most of the list taking the various factors into account.

so as I said in my last post, champs are clearly the best characters in hib ! and we should therefore all respec to champs right? erm no, why not? well what the stats don't say is that one overly obsessed person with too much time on their hands singlehandedly accounts for over 1/8 of that total (erm that'd be me), and just because one die hard champ goes on a rp farming spree and bring up the total to highest, it doesn't make champs necesarily the best class...

Skald has 31,382 realm points.
Mercenary has 14,998 realm points.
Cabalist has 7,653 realm points.

It does certainly suggest that some classes are a lot more powerful in RvR than others doesn't it....and those powerful classes tend to be the ones that are played by the most players, which you can certainly understand.

You can add some tilt to the stats based on the fact that some of the popular classes are played by more higher lvl peeps and therefore they get a lot more realm points, but I doubt that'd put the stats totally out.

Do we have any trained statisticians here?

I'm not sure the higher lvl argument really works as at no.3 we have the Runemaster with an average 32,779 realm points. When compared to the Merc, who has a HIGHER average lvl, they have at least twice the amount of realm points on average.

Hmmm how about average level should indicate which classes are currently being levelled. So higher ave level could mean fewer of these classes are coming up (as fewer of these at lower levels, thus lowering the average) and lower is vice versa. The two classes with the oldest average level are Thanes and Clerics. Lowest are spirit-masters, cabalists and eldritches. So depending on how you look at it, maybe these stats do mean clerics are being deleted. And if this interpretation is reasonable, then the worry for Midgard might just be healers with an ave of 26.91, pretty high.

you cannot take the average lvl on it's own without factoring in the amount of people of that class too, when you take both together you get the following situation: if population is lower but higher average lvl is higher it's trickier to judge.. if however population is higher *and* average level is higher (or both are lower) it is fairly easy to judge in the manner I stated in my previous post..

You probably do realize that most of those RPs were attained before the smite nerf......id like to see the last week Rps for clerics and the same for a few weeks ago to prove anything about a class

Well the point is, the number RPs a character has is mainly dependent on the amount of time played, not it's level of gimpedness. So any conclusions about gimpedness you attempt to draw from RP totals are false.

Statistics require analysis, but its easy to put any spin on statistics as shallow as these in order to prove your point.

Since when are clerics supposed to be a soloing class btw? And ffs, stop the whining about the smite nerf! You think it's normal to be able to stun and smite a level 50 for the same amount as an even con pure caster (or even more)?
