if i would use a chain chest instead of plate, would it be much difference?

It will lower your AF. Every 10 AF roughly gives you 1% more melee damage reduction.

And chain has lower absorb: 27% vs 34% for plate.
If I'm not mistaken, 40% of all hits done to you land on the chest.

So yes, it will matter alot.

Its also more expensive to make, so not much benefit at all really.

Only possible benefit would be no longer being weak to crush weapons, but the drop in absorb would probably work out even worse anyway.

Think theres probably a dozen or so breastplates i'd rather use before considering gov or eirenes so i'd agree with you on this.

AF is the same iirc... everything but cloth is '2(level+1)' iirc

The AF of both chain and plate is the exact same, it's just the absorb you have to look at. With a difference of 7% ABS and a chance of 40% for the hauberk to get hit:

7x0.4 = 2.8%total melee defence lost through having a chain hauberk on instead of plate.

Not a huge difference but the only way I'd make a sacrific personally is if you can get a better proc as well as better stats on the chain hauberk then you could on the plate.
