I have a 1991 Ford Escort (American POS!) w/Cold Air Intake with K&N Air Filter, Gude (Bullfrog) FERP02 racing package (Cam, High Velocity Throttle body, High Compression Cylinder Head, Ported Intake Manifold, ect...), and 2" SS Exhaust with Magnaflow Muffler.

This was EXACTLY my point. If you read through the thread in order, you'll see exor didn't even post in here until AFTER people had started abusing him for his MGF.
Like I said, this just smacks of insecurity (why would frankie need to go on about it when Paul hasn't even said anything, unless he's trying to convince himself that it's true?) and immaturity.
Because, like I said, frankie decided to jump in with his abuse before Paul had even said anything. Does the lad not have the right to defend himself?
Paul winds people up a lot. Granted. He does it for a reason - because it gets a rise out of them, which is amusing. You may agree with that, you may not. But considering he didn't even start this particular 'flamewar', I don't think you can lay the blame at his feet. He's proud of his car - why shouldn't he be? tbh I used to hate MGFs and take the piss out of them, but having seen Paul's it's bloody smart, and I'd be proud to own it too, especially if I was 18/19. frankie can be proud of his car as well if he wants, but I suspect he isn't, otherwise he wouldn't feel the need to bitch about Paul's at every opportunity.

JBL is really nice sounding. I sold JBL car audio back in 90-92. I've liked it's sound ever since. Really warm sounding when compared to the likes of Kenwood, Pioneer and Clarion (which I also sold back in the day). I won't say that it's as good as MB Quart or A/D/S (well... maybe their super expensive stuff is), but it's better than a lot out there. I have the sub hitting notes clear down to 25Hz and it's very musical sounding. Not the "BOOOOOM-BOOOOM" type of sound a Fosgate makes, but more melodic.

I beenz listening to rockford subs and don't like 'em much... I compared a 12" punch to an MTX thunder and the MTX pissed all over the rocky piss easy.
Well I want a 12" sub soon, been lookin' @ those blue coned kenwoods as I can get one for 65 quid... wot u reckon? Anything better for that money? Only for a nova so only want one cuz a phat box and lotsa subs will slow me down too much
edit... Nova's are as http://www.novaload.net and 65 quid is about 120 dollars

as much as i hate people with stereos in their cars that passers by can also hear, I felt the need to put a large stereo in my shittycento. We have :-
Kenwood KRC-759R Mask head unit
Kenwood 10-disc cd changer
Sony custom fit front speakers
JBL GTO Mk-II 6x9 rear speakers
used to have kenwood rear speakers, but they were fitted badly (halfords cunts) and the speaker terminals snapped when i put my golf clubs in, so I felt the need to put some big speakers in
and the best thing about it? You can only hear it if you're in the car (take note boy racer boys)

TUG mate, forget the 12" sub, too woolly. Get a nice 10" or some high quality 8". I have an Alpine 10" with Kenwood amp, Sony minidisc headunit. Will be replacing standard speakers with pioneer 17cm custom fit's, so should sound nice, and a 4 chan amp for the new speakers.
BTW I drive a nice, safe, boring, understated Laguna. Nobody would expect it to have the equipment that it does, and you can't hear a peep outside of it because it has proper sound-proofing, unlike those cheap biscuit-tin fiestas and escorts.
Still toying with the idea of replacing the 10" with a pair of 8" though, they are so much more crisp. Maybe I should add them aswell as the 10"?

The 12" might not be as tight as a 14 yr olds cunt but it drops much lower than 8's I like the depth, the thud... 8's and 10's are for punch really rather than depth... depends wot ch00nz u be into
I like forms of dance music really: trance mostly but I like nice basslines too, D'n'B, some R&B etc so I fink I'll stick wid me 12" beast

TUG, a good 10" sub can drop as low as a 12" if the enclosure is properly tuned. Back in '92, I tuned 2 8" JBL T08's in a ported, isobaric enclosure to 30Hz. In a car (hatchback), it would play straight down to 20Hz without a fuss, but would completely unload after that. It's all about the way you tune your enclosure. Screw all of the ready-made boxes out there. Go to your favorite search engine, type in "BlauBox" and download it from wherever. Use it to build your own enclosure.

You could start to hear a bit of distress near 20Hz, below that, the woofer starting flapping about (it unloaded). You could hear it more than feel it when it gets that low. An 8" woofer can only move so much air.

Got my new car Renault Megane Coupe 16v 2.0ltr with full Alpine sound system. Running two Alpine V12 amps etc. Hope to change to an Alpine mini disc head unit. Currently running Alpine CDA-7939 CD player.
