Last year mum took out some car insurance with a company called 1st Quote, however this year she didn't actually get any notification for when it was up for renewal by them.

She then found out the day before it was due to expire that it was coming up for renewal. So panic ensued. She tried to contact them over the phone, but they wasn't answering, so i ended up going into the internet and finding a new quote.

Found a cheap deal with Liverpool Victoria, so i purchased that insurance under the assumption that the 1st Quote insurance had ceased.

A couple of weeks later mum got a phonecall from the insurance to say that the money wasn't paid in, i assumed it was Liverpool Victoria because they didn't identify themselves.

It clicked who it was eventually though, and i explained that due to lack of contact i bought new insurance through LV and didn't want the 1stQ one anymore. He put me on hold for a few minutes to speak to his manager, and come back saying "yeah okay, everything is okay now".

Once again, a few weeks later mum got another phonecal saying why hadn't she paid. Once again i spoke to them explaining the situation (...) this time though he wanted actual proof that we took out a different insurance policy.

I scanned/emailed the policy over and i would assume that would be once again the end of it. They had their proof, so, what else could they need.

Well today they sent a letter through charging mum an admin fee of £25 due to non-payment, have to say i am getting pretty bored talking to them now. Although i just printed off the email/correspondence and looks like mum is going to the Citizens Advice now to get to the bottom of this.

So basically, whats the next course of action i wonder?!

I'd ask them for a breakdown of that 25 quid. No way does it cost that much to deal with what is a computerized process.
