I've never really commented on the Krypt Saga but would like to point out that Krypt is a Child, most of the people doing the bullying towards him now are over the age of 20.

Playing the 'maturity card' (as Damini puts it) should certainly be the norm.

However, he chose to post in the General Forum in the same manner he posted in others. Unfortunately for him, the response was quite different.

I have no idea of the ages of the main antagonists, but I'd be very surprised if they were over 20.

I'm also surprised at his reason for leaving, as I was under the impression he'd put them onto his ignore list.

So would I, and tried to point that out. Even if he is a bit of an idiot -or not- its very childish to disagree with someones posts simply because of something said in another thread.

Wasn't planning to post in here, as I suspect it'll soon be 'I'm back, yay' from him and this will dwindle away in our minds as a spectacular attention grabbing thread. Changed my mind.

Krypt has issues of his own, that much is very clear. It is not my place to discuss those details and I sincerely hope he realises you can't get the kind of advice he needs in a gamers forum and goes to a professional organisation.

He is a bright kid, that much is clear, very lively and looking for a fun time and company on the net. The issue, I feel, is that he is too quick to type before thinking, and to quick to react to other people. The normal sequence would be Krypt posts something a bit thoughtless in a thread, someone flames him for it, he reacts and throws the toys out arguing with them, and usually makes things worse because he hasn't thought through the response and it just spirals downward from there. I have seen it myself several times.

Were this thread about those who flame him I'd be adding comments about their behaviour too

So... he's about the same age as my eldest. What would I advise him to do in this situation?

Take a short breather from here... let the flames drop from the boards and spend some time thinking about how you come across to others. Don't try so hard to be funny, and don't try to get a post count over 50000, as doing so generally makes you look a tit and doesn't earn any respect. Once the flame threads have died down, and people have had a chance to reflect, come back and have a read, have a laugh at some of the funnies, and if you have a thread where you can add meaningful content or comments, then post, remembering to read what you have typed before hitting the submit button. Do NOT post a 'Hey I'm back!! Groovy!!' thread and don't try to use these forums as a substitute for real attention.

I've been, on occasions, one of those who have flamed Krypt, and never without reason. I won't apologise for any of that because I don't feel it is warranted. I will say that he'll be missed, in some way, by everyone, flamers and supporters alike.

I had a private chat with Krypt in IRC last week. He was trying to figure out why everyone was "picking" on him. I basically gave him the same advice as others have said in this thread.

He then asked me if the slate was clean between me and him. (Damini whispers in my ear about the DAOC stuff that happened...or more like growls about it)
I told him that although I'd given him advice, he's yet to put it into practice.

I told him all the usual stuff...ignore it, think about what you're posting, don't be so reactionary etc etc. But instead of actually taking it on board he forgot all about it and actually got worse.

I'm not surprised by him leaving. Seems just another way to throw a tantrum to me. If he comes back then let's hope he has a good read of this thread and does some growing up. If he doesn't come back then..so what?
