Since we really hijacked the Smallville thread with buffyage, I thought I'd start a new one here.

I've seen the last episode (many thanks to www.buffy.nu for that... mpeg too, not crappy avi vision...) and I must say I got a bit sniffley at the end.

So pissed off they killed Anya She was my favourite. And I'm a bit confused over how every child is going to be born a slayer now, that was going to be a potential - surely if those girls all around were potentials, then the First's plan would never have worked, I thought they been busily assassinating them all? That lost me a bit. And god, thats going to make for some painful pregnancies, slayers kicking in the womb...

And Spike! Wasn't much of a shocker because I fell into Stu's spoiler in the other thread (You cant say spoiler and then have the spoil directly below it!! You read it without consciously meaning to ) but I still hope he's going to be appearing in Angel, and that wasn't just a Joss to throw us off the scent that he was marked to die in the finale. That whole prophecy about the vampire with a soul stopping the apocolpyse and coming back human could be interesting...

There were some nice throw backs to the old Buffy episodes though, the chatting about shoes and malls, flashes of the old personalities again which was good, but what the hell was up with albino willow? That just looked plain ropey.


Anyway, since Kenny isn't a fan I needed to Buffy it out somewhere, so *purged*.

I read stu's spoiler too, I thought it was going to be the obvious "Spike see's buffy n angel, gets angry, becomes the firsts bitch again and buffy does a season 2 type ending where he gets sealed in the hell mouth".

I'm quite glad it ended on a higher note. I did like the little round the 4 of them camera shot, that was good. A nice hark back to s1 ep2 "the world is definetly doomed!". And I knew (again from stu's spoiler *fucker*), that anya was going to pop her clogs, but did they have to do it so brutally? That was fairly harsh tbh :|

Anyway, at the end of it all, I'm fairly chuffy about the way it ended. Very satisfying.

It also opens up a few possibilities. Angel could run in to several slayers in his travels on his series now. And as soon as spike got his soul, I did start to wonder about the prophecies etc. I don't think you get much bigger apocolypse wise than the first evil, and leveling (well cratering) a city.. so spike could well be the one who gets to turn human. Angel shan't be too happy. Which is good. Because he is a dick.


Anyway, all in all, super ending.

Well, I didn't realise Anya was going to die (I saw the spoiler, read the first line without meaning to and ran away from BW until I'd downloaded the episode and watched it!).

Her death was pretty damn harsh. "I'm really scared. I didn't think I would be. I thought you'd be all terrified and I'd be sarcastic."

Apparently Spike is signed up for 22 episodes of Angel, so I guess he's coming back somehow...

Well, I could imagine it'd be like how they revived Darla.

She came back human, that fits in with the prophecy, and Angel has the resources of Wolfram and Hart.

All of a sudden I'm more interested in the festering heap of lame that is (hopefully was) angel.

Edit: And I thought the harsh thing about Anya wasn't her being afraid, but more her being sliced in half. Normally when the regulars get hurt it's done with a bit more respek. Tara with a bullet wound, buffy's always died *nicely*.

Having said that, Xander getting his eyeball gouged out was fairly unpleasant.

Nah, Angel's got a lot better since the days where it tried to be all dark and adult and angry female cop with a depressed dad type drama.

I just find angel so damn samey atm. Infact, the only seasons I really liked were 1 and 2. 2's last two eps were DIRE though.

Although it's a step back imo. Spike's character became interesting with the whole Buffy relationship thing, especially so in the last few eps. Without her, he's just going to resort to a few one liners and beating people up - which is a bit of a non-starter in terms of plot development.

I got a bit upset at the Spike bit as well Damini, and I half knew it was coming - although I was sure that it would be done as a "you don't know for sure what happened to him". Seeing him turn to dust in such graphic detail didn't sit well.. especially after the "I love you" "No you don't, but thanks for saying it" dialogue.



I think if you'd watched all the episodes since season 2 when Spike actually showed up, and watched the character development between him and Buffy (from mortal enemy to partner, etc) it makes it more harrowing.

(Frankly, I couldn't give a shit if anyone thinks I'm a "girl" for saying the above - sorry for being sensitive)

Anya dying was very appropriate, especially in the manner it occured. Would've been lame if she was crawling around in her death throes, making some kind of last speech. The way she died was in keeping with the seriousness of the situation.

Principal Wood should've actually died when he feigned death, I thought that would've been a fitting finale. I didn't actually enjoy any of the faux comedy moments/quips that were made post-Spike-dustage, but thats probably because of my frame of mind than anything else.

It should have stopped when she died back in Season 5, there have been some good episodes since but no really good long term "arcs".
