funding isnt equal to controlling , and certainly not to a degree where yould hand em nukes.

If it was then the Americans would have given the Taliban nukes years ago :)
Although they gave them Rambo, which is close enough i guess, they probably still have a stockpile of weapons grade Growth Hormones.

Well, it seems unless the British are lying (possible but unlikely - but then is Blair), then Iran came over 1.5 nautical miles outside their territory to take the hostages. That is just insanity, but then they will argue that it their waters still even though it isnt internationally recognised.

People say british troops should have fought back, but 6 armed ships against them makes it likely many would been killed. So guess they made the right decision.

Fighting without reason is crazy. But this time, with evidence provided that Iran was in the wrong they should be given a final deadline for release of all prisoners and state that if they do not it will be taken as a declaration of war on their behalf. They already refuse diplomatic contact with the prisoners and so they are on thin ice. Our leaders are ready to go to war for no reason, now they got one it is only a matter of time. If negotiations fail then I can see the next few days being telling, just hope that we already have some of our best people locating them, ready for action if/when needed.

Really stupid init. Give them till Friday and if they don`t release the prisoners nuke Tehran. If they don`t release the prisoners then by sunday nuke their second city and so on every 2 days untill the prisoners are released or the whole of Iran is a smoking wasteland.

Think that a bit over the top, considering most the people that would be killed = innocent civilians. Hell for all you know, the first nuke would kill the people they taken prisoner.

There aparently talk that the female will be released soon. Why she gets preferential treatment i dont know. Oh look she a female and a mum, we let her go in an act of good faith.... if a crime commited they all be guilty, this goes to show it all political bollocks from Iran.

You need strategic strikes if it comes to that, and we got some the best men to do it. They have the training and the skill, if only we can locate the prisoners then can bet your arse that if it came to it they would be out in a matter of minutes of any declaration from the British is made. Then you just punish the people that went and done this, and to teach them a lesson you just set their nuclear program back a decade or so by taking out all the installations etc, afteral we know where they are located (mind you, i hope the intel is better then the Iraqi WMD intel)

Guess we can only wait and see, at least we know they wont punish the prisoners by forcing them to watch a reply of Israil vs England from the weekend!

What would be the right punishement for the British soldiers who invaded Iraq? Slow death while bombing London back to stone age?

If you put your nose where it doesn't belong prepare it to be bitten off - who the hell are US colaltion telling others how to live? Take the troops back home, look at the mirror and aim the gun at your own head - small wonder there isn't civil war going for being ashemed of being British :S I'm ashemed just for being EU citizen.

As it been said before US collation is begging for an excuse to attack Iran but this will unlikely to be it. Well, atleast not right now but they may use it in few years once they have ran out of Iraq oil... :p

rofllol, someone else who is mis informed ::)

no, not misinformed. just mixed the names up thats all. so my bad on that one. but either way, they aparently was inside their borders. may not have been invading but they sure as hell shouldent have been there in the first place.

moving on. what would you have done if a team of well armed foreign(sp?) soldiers were found inside your borders? u'd give them a slap on the hand and let them go? fuck no, u'd take them in and see what the fuck they were doing in your country in a fast patrol boat.

now i dont know if they actually WERE, but i'm sure as hell isnt going to ignore that they MIGHT have been just because its iran thats holding them.

they might have been there by mistake, they might not have. but were probably never going to find out the truth anyway.

theres so much bullshit going on down there u cant trust either side anymore.

They have now shown evidence that our sailors were 1 mile away from Iran borders so this is nothing more than illegal imprisionment or an act of war. This is all making us look very silly saying we will take it to the next level. Ohh no when have shown the press what we have been showing you! That will teach people not to fork with us! They should have the SAS in there either getting the boys out of painting targets for precision bombing and teach them a lesson.

In a recent independant poll of Iraqi, it was above 60% of people (cant remember exact amount) that were happy that Saddam had been removed from the equation. Difference between Britain and Iraqi is that we dont send missles and troops onto our own people simply because they are a different religion/race. THe move in general was for the right reason, they however used incorrect methods for doing it and possibly mislead the public about the truth of reasoning for doing it.

Without having every piece of evidence used to justify the war though you can not state how much of it was untruthful or just bad intel. One things for sure, Saddam should have been removed from power long before this was a problem, just no one would stand up to him, and the iraqi people had no chance against him on their own.

Am i pleased we got involved? No, i think the decision needed to be made on a larger scale. However I think in the long run it will benefit Iraqi people if it can be stabilized out there. And thats the problem, no body thought about the long term

Britain provided co-ordinates of the location the people were taken from, these co-ordinates were taken from a helicopter that done a flyby over the ship they boarded. Well inside Iraqi water. Iran state this was not correct.

Iran provide co-ordinates that they state were where the prisoners were taken from... amazinely they provide co-ordinates that still was in IRAQI territory. They get told this and they suddenly change their mind about the co-ordinates. Suspecious? You bet your arse it is.

.

If you belive the rumours in the first Iraq war both the SAS and the Yanks both had clear cut chances to Kill Sadam but as his Sons were not with him they let him slide with the better the devil you know way of thining.

No wonder the people in Iraq wanted him out though. Could you imagaine Tony Blair called England a ploice state where you no longer have the right to vote 80% of you earnings go to him so he can make a gold plated palace while you live in a squat. And then to add to that he decides he wants some chemical weapons now a proper test would be too expensive so he will just test it on Manchester instead. I wonder if that was the case if the people in europe will still bitch and moan about the Yanks taking power away from him a returning it to the people.

Seems to me it sounds like the same sort of stuff that went on in the cold war, where the forces from each side flirt with the borders, and almost dare each other to do something about it. Nearly caused at least one nuclear incident. Wish militaries on all sides would stop that sort of thing, but it doesn't seem likely.

The initial reports I heard claimed the they were in waters that Iran had always claimed, but weren't internationally recognised. That's like the situation when your neighbour thinks a bit of land is his, and it's in legal dispute. Fair enough, but if your reaction is to keep standing on it, he might get annoyed. Why wouldn't the navy just stay in bits that weren't contested, keeping things nice and simple ?

Not saying Iran are right (in fact it's downright silly when certain people are looking for an excuse for attacking them), but that we're going to get these sort of issues with the tactics we use.

Actually i spoke to a British fighter pilot friend just after the first gulf wat and the Merkin pilots had the location of Saddam but were forced not to target his location as at the time it would have counted as an assasination of a foreign national leader which was prohibited by US law, although i have a feeling they repealed that law shortly after, much in the same way Russia recently made it legal for their secret service to kill anyone, anywhere.

i was listening to the news earlier, the ppl who captured the brits arent ur normal navy, according to BBC news 24! but u can be sure if the men and boats dont arrive back soon the US will get involved, and possibility of more problems for Iran!
More problems for the rest of the world, if you're on about US involvement
Pfft, I wouldn't read that filthy rag if they were giving it away and I had nothing else to wipe my arse with! :D
You'd just look at the pictures, then? :p
No. There are many areas of US foreign policy which I disagree with. Especially their policies in the middle east.
But I do support British armed forces and I do think that Iran having a nuclear capability would be bad not only for the region but for the world as a whole.
It's funny how people keep mentioning Iran's nuclear plans, while forgetting the matter that a whole bunch of western countries have the shit lying around. I'm not disagreeing with you, though, as I can't picture Iran and nuclear weaponry being a particulary healthy combination, but wouldn't it be a start for western countries to get rid of the shit first, if only to set an example? It's not like hell will break out for us lacking nuclear weaponry, as we've got plenty of means to defend ourselves if Iran does decide to go on, but I just think it's a hypocritical thing to expect a country not to research something which you've already got yourself.
Israel is just another US state :<
Mate .. if these groups can find people willing to strap a bomb to themselves and detonate it do you really think they wont find people to detonate a nuclear device in a western city?
Say Iran is supporting and supplying them, they might just be holding back, rather than unable to get the stuff. If Iran supplied them with some fancy gear, they'd blow some place to bits and then yap on about it on television, Iran would be in shit just as badly as the terrorists blowing themselves up.
I just think that, if Iran is supplying them (which I can't tell as I haven't seen proof showing that they are or aren't) they wouldn't be as thick as to prove to the world that they are. And handing terrorists weaponry which is most likely to come from a certain source would get that source to be investigated, which would only lead to the country's selfdestruction rather than whatever else they're hoping to gain by supporting selfdestructive retards.
Really stupid init. Give them till Friday and if they don`t release the prisoners nuke Tehran. If they don`t release the prisoners then by sunday nuke their second city and so on every 2 days untill the prisoners are released or the whole of Iran is a smoking wasteland.
What if you hit the prisoners with the first nuke, that'd kinda ruin step two, wouldn't it?

I thought there was some civil war going on between teenagers, with all the stabbing and shit going on lately. That doesn't make me look forward to coming over to York or London during the summer, I can't be bothered with a knife in the gutts while out for a drink. Anyway, that's off-topic, I suppose, but it just shows things aren't going all that great within English borders either.
They have now shown evidence that our sailors were 1 mile away from Iran borders so this is nothing more than illegal imprisionment or an act of war. I think taking things 'to the next level' over fifteen captured soldiers is pointless. Sure, you can't let Iran get away with it without at least a warning, as they'd just do it again next week, but starting a war and getting some thousands of people killed over a dozen soldiers? I don't think so.
This all reminds me of the Libanon/Israel shit some months ago, and look how well that turned out.
I wonder if that was the case if the people in europe will still bitch and moan about the Yanks taking power away from him a returning it to the people.
I don't think taking out Saddam was such a bad thing to do, but the way they handled it... could've been better?

The reason the british went into that water was because of a suspected smuggling operation by a merchant vessell. So they went in a boarded it. During this time 6 Iranian vessels moved in on them. Something that was into conspiracy could say that this was actually a setup but I wouldnt claim that.

I agree that this is a game of cat and mouse and it like they daring the British to strike. Thing is, the "Military" basically control the politics now in Iran (I simplified it a bit but that the basically the outcome fo the situation there). And that is a dangerous combination.

More problems for the rest of the world, if you're on about US involvement

The reason Iran is a problem if they get nukes, is if i remembering this correctly, they have said on more then one occassion that they wish to wipe Israel of the face of the planet. Nukes + that leadership = trouble. If no one had nukes then we could get rid of ours, problem is the unstable countries are trying to develop them and if you havent got a significant threat against them they are more likely to use them. But even with them there is no guarentee of them not using it. What the major advantage for UK/US is the fact most of them cant actually launch the required distance to be a threat to our homelands till they develop better missles also.

If you belive the rumours in the first Iraq war both the SAS and the Yanks both had clear cut chances to Kill Sadam but as his Sons were not with him they let him slide with the better the devil you know way of thining.

And it is believed they had him on various times, problem his most they time they couldnt be certain it was him due to body doubles, and striking one them down instead of him would just forced his hand in using more lethal means then he already was using. Also it goes against many laws that are put down in relation to assassinations etc, but how many of them now can be bypassed now i do not know, however it was a major implication in decisions and I guess the idae to commit an illegal act even if it was for positive reason could not be done. Is a shame in some ways, but it could have made situations worse also so guess you got to understand that.

Anyways, I probably am taking to harsh a view on this at the moment but I feel we have to be protective of our troops considering the job they do. As said before, i may not agree with every decision made, but the Iranian's made a clear unlawful act (supported by them providing co-ordinates still inside iraqi waters) and the go on to break the Geneva convention in regards to prisoner treatment. These many breaches are just daring us to take action, and if they think they can get away with it then they will do it again. Just like they have now after doing it under 3 years ago.

the go on to break the Geneva convention in regards to prisoner treatment.

and the reason the UK and US governments havent brought this up is cos they are quite happy to break it themselves with their "detainees" system ;)

60% or above is very low number unless "above" means 95%+ (besides, the question should have been "are you happy that we bombed yout cities, killed your leader and big bunch of civilians?"). What comes to the underlined part - UK has no blood in their hands of civil war(s)? Only ~90 years ago Finnish people were killing each others :S

And since Iraqi people have no chance against US collation should those countries be in civil war to help them. Yet people revote Bush for president :S And if UK civilians have problems its ok for Finnish army to invade the country and help them out by killing the Queen and secure, erm, umbrella sources? :p

In the long run things could have settled automatically - in the near future Arabic oil countries and Russia will become very powerfull for being the ones with the most of energy sources. Actually, no, in the near future we would have had similar war going for probably the same reasoning just to secure oil sources :p Yet again - who the hell are US collation telling others how to live?

Imagine the same scenario but replace US collation with Russia or China - what would the local papers look like and what would Bush and Blair think about it?

And don't forget pull people out of their own countries, transport them to native soil, and torture them for information for years on end. In fairness though, unlike the US the Iranians at least took soldiers into custody, not just random Joe Shmoes off the street in the middle of the night.....

Why bring the iraq war into this?. Fact is, the iranians have kidnapped some of our service men. If they wont give them up then I would be behind the government 100% if we had to use aggression to get them back

nothing double about it, it is not as if we are a feared country, our soldiers are mainly out there protecting innocents against arse holes.

These servicemen were not being aggressive or bombing mothers and children on a bus they were doing their job. Like I said fuck Iran it can burn to the ground for all I care.
