The Speedmaster is a nice bike, used to own the standard 865 cc myself. Nice bike, but came with crap tyres which I repalced straight away. It's a good bike messing about on for the weekend, but not ideal for every day use. The acceleration is a bit too punchy in rush hour.

I would go for something a bit slower first though, take a year or so to build up to a bike with that amount of grunt :)

It reduces unsprung weight in the wheel I believe, but I have read over the years that they can crack beyond repair where they are drilled.

Edit: just did a Google, seemingly helps to prevent a film of water building up under breaking in wet conditions.

I think that its the old Thundercat engine with the R6 brakes.

did a couple of overtaking manouevers and wow! quick!!!

riding along the dual carriageway on Saturday and though that the wind had picked up........until I noticed my speed

slowed down sharpish.

Yes it is the Thundercat engine but didn't that go into the R6 or something, oh I dunno.

How tall are you Laz? Is the bike comfy?

Just been watching the Isle of Man TT. The whole island more or less is devoted to putting this race on. God knows what the noise is like to many residents but they seem to embrace the event with open arms. If you are into motorbikes it must be a great trip to make. Loads of the guys are now wearing cameras so you can see exactly what goes wrong - or right. Last I saw was this guy going into a cottage wall at a hell offa pace. Didn't die but was well bashed up with broken bones and internal problems. Happened so fast he couldn't do anything about it. Still what a marvellous way to spend a week or however long it is if you are an enthusiast.

Gah midget!

Would it be comfy if you were a manly height? Say 6 inches taller with 35 inch inside leg?

why???

do you know anyone who is freakishly deformed in that way?

seriously tho - the woman that I bought it from was 6' 2" and she claimed is was one of the most comfy bikes she had.

Fucking hell mate :(

Has it put you off riding? Throddy told me that within the first 2 years or so you are bound to come off, the risk gets less the more you ride.

I came off when I was younger, hit some black ice, it doesn't half make your arse clench. Did your front end slide first? Thats scary when that happens.

Thing is the plastics on bikes cost so much you could well expect them to write it off.

will take more than a little slide to put me off riding matey.

was the kind of accident that in all honesty I thought would happen.
had been riding most of the day in wet conditions no problem at all. only when the sun came out and the road dried out did I make an arse of meself.

had a guy behind me (actually and observer with the IAM) who said I was riding fine. just took the bend a little too wide and hit the gravel with the front end which went down quicker than you could blink. Slid along the road for about 40-50 yards. scary when me visor was sliding along the road and I could see every bit or tarmac clearly.

shoulder of the jacket is ripped. Hole in my glove and helmet scratched to bits. Leather trousers seems to be ok, but need to clean them off to check for damage. boots are worn throuh on one of the toes.

Fecking finger hurts though.

Better the jacket ripped than your skin, it did its job so was worth every penny.
