They are just so gigantic though luv.

I thought that but i got it anyway. Now all other phones seem so small and cumbersome to use.
Get an S2 you know it makes sense.

Even Throd says so!! What more do you want??

Yeah it's very light and slim, weighs my pocket down much less than my previous phone, a Blackberry Curve.

Release date for the Samsung S3 is tipped to be in April so if you can wait that will be the one to get!

And the GS2 has the benefit of not being made by Sony.
It's swings and roundabouts. You like Sony and knock other manufacturers. I like HTC, accept Samsung, and knock Apple at every opportunity.
Sony fumbled the ball IMO with the Xperia X1 then the X10. I went through 3 X1's before ditching it altogether. The casing kept cracking at a weak point. The X10 was fair enough, but Sony fucked up badly installing Moxier Mail on it because it restarted all the time and drained the battery more quickly trying to establish network connections. Rooting the phone and removing Moxier solved the problems. Then there's the USB socket breaking. Apparently it's a common fault with X10's. If I spend a few quid on getting the socket fixed and a replacement digitiser, it might be okay as a backup phone, but I'm loath to spend even that much on it.

Erm, the X1 was made by HTC, not Sony (or SonyEricsson for that matter, who were a completely different company to Sony, with a different culture and mostly Ericsson people running the show), they outsourced the entire shebang to HTC, and, lo and behold, it wasn't built properly. So I would take your X1 build criticisms up with your beloved HTC. I believe it was also HTC who insisted on it running Windows Mobile. Thankfully SE sorted out the camera and sound quality, so it wasn't a complete disaster. Mine is still working upstairs somewhere.

The X1 is also a 3 year old device. I know that if we go 3 years back into Samsungs back catalogue, you can find some complete unmitigated shite, like the Tocco for instance. Hell go 18 months back to the Galaxy S, and you get GPS which thinks you are 7 miles away from where you are actually standing. This was out about the same time as the X10, so not too long ago at all.

Speaking of the X10, Moxier stopped being an issue when it was upgraded to 2.1, and it disappeared completely with the Gingerbread update. Not heard of this USB socket issue, sounds like a badly treated phone to me. I know about 4-5 people with X10's, not one has managed to break the USB socket. Maybe consider looking after your £400 gadgets in future?

Anyway, if Trem fancies a Windows Phone we're on to a loser.

I disagree. Moxier is still a problem on 2.1. I can't install the GB update because of the broken USB port.
The phone was my wife's and she treated it as carefully as she possibly could. Don't patronise me about looking after my devices.

I just fancy a change luv and I do like the look/specs of the Nokia. Having said that I realised my Google sync won't work on a windows phone so that could be a no go. I have never been blown away by Android, never really impressed me, I guess I just want simplicity along with a few fancy bits.

I really do not agree, from my point of view with having to help people remotely the iPhone is stunningly easy to walk people though. No risks of different UI or a options being in a slightly different place on a Samsung. It is the best thing about them.

You realise you just described an iPhone :)

As before, I like the iPhone I just hate the software, read that as iTunes, I also hate how god damn fucking awkward they can be at doing some things that you take for granted on other phones.

I've got the Lumia 800 and I love it. Windows Phone is really nice to use, it's fast, fluid and simple.

I know Soze, I know what you were saying chum.

It is a bloody shame that Apple continue to ruin, quite frankly, beautiful hardware with piss poor software.

The fact that you have to sync your PHONE to MUSIC software before you can use it is an outrageous farce tbh.

Wazz, if Apple think it's a good thing, then it's clearly genius and all must agree. That aside, Apple want you to buy in to a lifestyle choice. In that respect they're like Ikea. Ever notice that Ikea stuff is really awesome when you combine it with other Ikea stuff but doesn't really cut it when mixed with other brand/make things? Like that an Ikea bed is actually a bit naff when you want to mate it with a regular non-Ikea mattress? Imo that sums up Apple: they have solutions for everything that just don't quite match up with OPP (other people's products). They're like their own self for-filling prophecy. Al right then, rant off for the evening. Now some L4D2!

You don't have to have screens bloated with apps.

That's the beauty of Android you can customise it to what you want.

I've seen some pretty cool minimalist android screens

galaxy nexus has a superb camera trem. the shutter time is almost 0, it's the nicest phone camera I've ever used. Faster and better than the latest iphone in tests with my mates.

I'm worried about it only being 5mg camera though Chilly, or is it not the size that matters and more the quality when it comes to camera phones?

A lad at work has a horrible SE phone, the big one that you have to use the stick on, anyway, that is 12mg and the quality between his pics and mine is mind blowing, my 5mg HTC Desire just looks horrid when we compare pictures (we take a lot of pics at work due to stealth bumming)

Whe was the last time you actually used a picture at that resolution for anything? The very first thing you do is downsample it. Sure, the MP count is a bit low, but the quality of the lens and the related optics and electronics is very good. I'll dig up some links to photos I've taken, gimme a few mins...

I really must also reiterate how quick the shutter is. My last android phone had almost a second of lag between press and capture. This thing is probably 50-100ms.

See this is taken with my 5mg HTC Desire camera, I guess you can see why I am dubious about phones with lower megapixels.
