well, I just had the best day ever....not, so I'm going to tell you about it.
As some of you know I bought a car in december. after a while it developed a strange periodic shake in the front end, which it would only do if it had been driven for a good while, eg more than an hour, and then only sometimes. so I took it to a VW dealer and had it looked at. the dealer came back with some scary stuff about the car possibly having had an impact on the left front, the drive shaft was fucked, and the brake was not too good as grease from the shaft was spraying on it every so often. not to worry, so I went back to the dealership I bought it from. asked them about any impact damage the car may have had -they professed innocence btw- and told them to fix the car. it got fixed and all was well.
After a while, and in true boy racer stylee, I succumbed to the lure of alloys and also the irony of having them on a three cyl diesel VW polo, so I got them -not lolstupid ones btw: I went from the polo 14" / 185/55 to a 16" 195- and the car drove awesomely but had a slight tendency to want to drift to the right. Not to worry I thought, it's not the alloys (had them checked right after they were fitted) and the car needs a checkup anyway, so I'll have it realigned at checkup time. So checkup time comes around a week later, I take the car to the VW dealer tell them what I want and they go to work.
Today they call me and tell me that the check is done, all is well, but.....they can't fix the wanting to turn right, because apparently the left front wheel support is so out of wack that they can't get it within VW tolerances any more. Meaning the car still wants to turn right, only less so than yesterday. They seriously advise me to get it looked at by a specialist, and tell me that driving it the way it currently is will cost me a set of front tyres every year if not more. This means that at some point in my polo's brief life it suffered major trauma to the left front wheel. The other company "fixed" it, but only within the tolerance of the former wheels, and the new alloys show the out of wackness more thanks to the larger diameter it seems. The dealer offers to attempt to fix the issue, but tells me that it's going to cost lolcash to do so and even go as far as to advise me to contact my insurance, especially if I'm going to have a specialist fix it because that's going to cost even more lolcash.
so that set the mood. just to fill you in more, I want the car to be fine because I'm going on holiday with it -that's the plan at least- and expect to drive some 5000km. this because the polo is super economical with the diesel and the trip will cost a lot less than flying+renting a car on location.
Did I forget to mention that I have an exam tomorrow? Oooh, well I have an exam tomorrow that I consider to be important because it will certify me to work with the product I....work with. Awesomecakes. Easy enough, but I was told end of last week that I had the exam tomorrow, so somewhat stressful because this stuff is reasonably hard and the exam reflects that (as it should) which makes it tough on me because I was informed late and things got messed up. Also I worked the weekend (woo good planning tdc!) and today this car shite happened.
Then..... Yes, then I lost my mobile phone on the train home from work. Not bad, because if it actually was my phone it would be insured and I wouldn't particularly care too much. Also I have faith in my fellow man, so I was hoping that someone would turn it in at the lost items thing that the Dutch rail carrier does. And then I called my phone to thank whoever found it for doing so. But my phone was off, which made me feel bad. So I called my work: "is my phone there? I seem to have misplaced it". No, it wasn't at work, bahs.
Then I tried to fill in the lost items form on the steaming pile of crap that is the NS website which failed to work in two different browsers on two different computers until my blood pressure got so high that I had to go to the station to inquire after my phone to save my own life. Sadly no phone there, but the lady who helped me was nice enough and she looked through the found items database but no phone had turned up anywhere that was the make/model/colour that matched but she promised to call me if it did. So then I had to go home again and call my mate, who's phone I had borrowed because my own phone was being a bit shite, to tell him that I had lost his phone along with all his contacts, all my contacts, all my texts, etc. Then I had my mobile chip blocked.
By this time I was quite upset, and now I have to do final revising for my exam while all I really want to do is go to bed and have a sleep. On the other hand, yesterday, I cracked a problem at work that I'd been working on for 6 days straight at maximum warp. Which was good, but the release of pressure left me so mentally spent -think Trem after 4 hours of feeling up power-tools in the local DIY- that I left work right away and treated myself to some yummy take out and then watched BSG reruns that my digital thingy records for me before doing some revising for my exam. That was good. Today I paid the price
