Are vegetarians selfish ?

Why is it if you go over to a vegetarian for dinner they won't cook you a steak or a sausage, yet if they come over to yours, you gotta go out of your way to make them some vegetarian dish.

They won't even ask if you don't mind not having meat. Certainly wouldn't offer to cook you a steak. Not even a chicken's bum on a rice cake.

I know some nice people who are vegetarians but i think most of them do it because they think its cool or feel like theyre saving animals in the process.

Tbh i think the products we used in daily life which have animal based products (Think leather chairs, creams etc) in probably come from foreign animals treated much less well than the ones reared in this country, under strict guidelines for food consumption.

To answer the original question.

I guess some vegetarians simply don't want to be part of the process of killing and eating animals, so that's why they can't cook animal food even for others.

As for the rest, yes, they are damn selfish.

me and a couple of mates did the cooking at the village BBQ a few years back, whenever the veggies came along with their special diet requirements for us to cook we just did it with the rest. they got plenty of the meat in with their reformed turd.

not much other than to say that i firmly believe that causing suffering and ultimately death to an animal when it is not necessary (in any way what-so-ever) to lead a healthy and fulfilled life is far more 'selfish' than expecting meat-eaters to cater for my eating habits

no its wrong of her. i have no relalistic idea of how that could happen as a vegetarian, and in these days its very unlikely that people need vitamin besides from what they get in their food - she must've been eating crap

the difference is lamp, that its not hurting you to eat veggies but it is hurting the vegetarian to eat meat... and assuming you invited them for dinner i suppose its rude of you not to do the hazzle of cooking veggies (can be turned that they invite you, they should cook meat but then i will refer to the first point - the not hurting/hurting part)

The fact is by design we are omnivorous, if people want to be vegetarian thats fine but there is absolutely nothing wrong with eating meat and people who do choose not to should stop going on at those who do. (yes i know nobody here is etc)
