telefunken%20valve%20amp.jpg

Had it lying around for years. Amazingly, it still works, uses valves instead of transistors (its an amplifier for those who don't realise by now). It sounds a bit tinny, but otherwise its quite a nice sound. Insides are like the dark ages, no PCB, all hand-wired, component legs soldered together, etc.

Details:

Telefunken (arranged in a diamond with the letters in a 3 x 3 matrix)
Type: S 81
Nr: 13866
110/125/150/220/240V
50Hz 45VA

Vor Einstellen
Der Netzsponnung
***tzstecker ziehen!

I've had a look on google, can't find anything. Does anyone have any ideas?

Nice work m8, if they're going for that much, I think I'll keep it for now. Would be nice to pick up some bits and pieces for it though, like the badges.

I've emailed the guy in the auction.

The really sad bit is that I'm sure I had the large badge on the front, and the plastic green light cover.

Its old :)

S81 Stereo Amplifier Year of production 58/59.
Tube set = 2x ECL82

Judging by the amount of ECL82 amp kits on google, I would say the valves are replacable, Might be worth spending some time fixing it up as a little show piece, Not often you find 40+ year old piece of electrical equipment that works :)

I'm thinking of restoring it, if I can get the badges. I want to use it for listening to radio 5 in my bathroom (the amp will be in another room).
