You may or may not like smiths or the people that listen to smiths and morrisey. Personally i think a few smithfans get a bit to pretentious, and they usually only want to listen to morrisey or smiths. Should point out that im a morrisey and smithsfan too.

people say Morrissey cant sing because they dont look past the vocal style he has, it may come across as not being able to sing but its because of its tone.

You only have to listen to 'come back to camden' to realise his fantastic singing ability, tone, pitch and range!

There are plenty of metal vocalists who are equally as talented, however due to them using a different style of singing its often overlooked and just seen as screaming (and yes some bands do just do that).

you may or may not like em (which i dont particularly do, but thats another story) but you should open abit more up and realize that most bands copy from eachother, i a way of showing respect. if you listen closely to each band in the whole fucking world you'll prolly see that maybe, just maybe your precious new york dolls copied from someone? I know a lot of respected bands (also unknown bands ;p) who copy from the older generation because they have been an inspiration ;O

re: the new york dolls. well they did 2 good albums which is 1 or 2 less than what the smiths did. And as for pretentions, Johnny Thunders was the biggest poser going, one of the herion chic saps before they even called it that.
