My HTC Desire seems fine... but I'm using Cyanogen Mod on it, not the stock ROM.

Are you all with Orange? Could Orange have something to do with it? Maybe they set a volume cap etc?

No, you've more likely got a faulty handset or ears.

Try a cotton bud first.

Ahh yeah it's my ears! wow after all these years, I never realised I had terrible hearing. Thanks Ch3tan for your diagnosis...

Back on topic - Does anyone know an app which can increase the call volume past the default max level? I've googled it and i'm not the only person with this issue. The apps are a little random, some say they increase the volume, but all it does is provide a screen to adjust all your volume settings (call volume is already on max) so they are useless.

No you can't, the problem most people report is with the speaker phone. If your call volume is too low when not on speaker then send your phone back for repair ( You are on Orange so they'll simply swap it for you if you complain of a fault).

You can use sms backup and restore to save your texts, and google sync to save your contacts. You keep your memory card anyway.

Seeing as you didn't realise, the ear thing was a joke. Your phone is faulty if you've got a problem with the call volume, I have mine at 3/4 and it's more than loud enough.

Just to be sure we are on the same wave length, I don't mean the ring volume (which is stupidly loud), but the call volume when speaking to someone. In a house/room its fine, but outside it's too quiet.

nope, imo we're talking about the same thing dude.

I heard the ads get in the way of the gameplay on Angry Birds. That right?

Turn off mobile data and wifi using the widgets, before you use any game or app that uses ads and doesn't need network. It will stop the ads displaying / loading.

Someone told me if you put the phone into Airplane mode it also stops the adverts but I can't be bothered to test it out...

Well, duh, airplane mode shuts off all 'radio' things, so that's all of: mobile signal, wifi and bluetooth.

dys, it took you longer to type the posts out than it would have done to actually test the theory....... ;)

Yes but would the game still run...

Dys, did you not bother to read my post directly below Lamps?

Of course airplane mode would stop ads, there would be no internet connection. It's pointless though, when you can just turn your data off instead.

Most game's still work, a couple I ran into where badly coded and would not run without data on - easily solved though, just turn data off once the game is running.

Q: Will there be a paid version of Angry Birds without the ads?

A: Yes there will. We recently introduced our own payment system for operator billing, the Bad Piggy Bank. An opt-out payment option will be introduced worldwide in cooperation with local operators in 2011.

(from the developpers web site)

Just got Endomondo for when I'm jogging etc; seems pretty good thus far and it saves me £20 on buying Nike+.

The Mrs downloaded Angry Birds Rio on her Wildfire. Works better than the original AB & has better graphics. Still ads tho. Heard AB is going to be released ad free on Android later this month - will have to pay for it tho

Just been giving Dolphin HD browser a go for the last few days because it's got add-ons for Xmarks and LastPass. They seem to work pretty well for now.
