Not sure if anybody uses it, but Onenote for Android is out now. Very sexy, syncs perfectly with skydrive notebooks. Like.

Currently using Evernote + Whiteboard Pro....TBH I still prefer a post-it note for shopping. In the time it takes me to open the app, type the stuff in on the tiny keyboard, correct errors etc I could have written 2 lists on pen & paper. Evernote is very good but I really don't use it that much. Too much effort TBH. For task lists and more permanent reminders I use Jorte, which is excellent.

Via a USB cable and set USB mass storage mode on ;)

What's app. Uses data allowance to text so if like me you have friends in other countries you can text or picture message without having to pay. The data usage is minuscule

QuickPic plays everything for me (they make it sound like it is only useful for photos but it's great for watching videos), failing that try MoboPlayer. QuickPic handles x264 720p (and 1080p, for the record) with ease.

Thanks for the advice about MoboPlayer, I'll take a look in the next day or so.

I've been looking at Google's promotion of the Market rebranding to Play.
I've just got:
I'm considering getting Dead Space for 49p, with a view to installing it on a tablet at some point in the future (when I get one). I also found out today that I can sign onto my wife's S2, download an app I've paid for, then sign off, and she can use the app on her phone. :)

3 Good games there. "Where's My Water" is very good too. Dead Space is excellent. Runs flawlessly on my SGS2

Looking forward to the new (next) generation of Android phones. Quad core & uber screen resolutions.

Oh yeah, forgot to say although some may know - Sky Go is finally available on Android (although not all). Picture quality isn't amazing but it's great to finally have the option.

Someone told me at work I cant update the firmware on my SGS2 without losing all my apps, data, logs, files etc and needs a factory reset. He also said its a very complicated process and you could end up bricking the phone. Is he talking total shite, or am I left with the stock 2.3.4 until I get a new phone? My phone is SIM-free so not tied to any carrier.

You can't upgrade to 2.3.5 lamp? I'm hoping ICS fixes my 3G problem.

I've no idea how to upgrade the firmware TBH. Do you have to do it manually or is it an automatic update?
Worried about bricking the phone & losing all my data / contacts / apps etc
Probably just buy a new phone with ICS on it

It takes time before it's available to you.
Your network need to "tweak" it to fit their systems first (putting their own boot screen and apps on it).
Once they've done that, your phone checks if there are any updates available for it and lets you know if there are.

Alternatively, you plug it in to your PC and check it with Kies. If there's an update, you'll be told there and then.

Install Kies from the samsung site, then install update on the 18th via that.
You may loose apps though because 2.3 -> ICS is a pretty big update. I had to backup and reinstall a load when I upgraded my Note, but writing down what I had + titanium backup was fine.
Your contacts will re-download from google, but the official update may not even require you to re-login via google.

Worth doing, ICS is amazing.

I updated my SGS2 from 2.3.4 to ICS today and I didn't have to re-installl anything, though I made sure to backup SMS & Contacts beforehand. I did have to uninstall GO SMS though, because it kept sending duplicates but I'm guessing that's temporary.

The only issue I had with the whole thing is that now I can't use Wireless internet. I don't know if it's because of my router being borked or if it's the update. I can connect fine, I recieve an IP etc. but after that I get no internet connection. Kinda annoying since the rest of it works just fine.

Really? I mean really?

It's also got the gayest name of any OS known to man. :)
But it's featured heavily in "The Running Man"...
